About the Area: The historic village of Golant, has an excellent pub (Fisherman's Arms), small hotel (Cormorant Hotel) and restaurant, facilities for boat launching. Also within the village is an Art gallery displaying local artists work. Golant has around 130 dwellings with a population of circa 220 people. It has a 13th century Parish Church located on the Saints Way Path. Golant offers wonderful opportunities for sailing, boating, walking, hiking and nature enthusiasts. Golant is an ideal base for exploring South Cornwall, with many excellent beaches in the area & absolute breathtaking coastal walks. The sandy beaches of Polkerris, Readymoney or Par sands are all within 5 minutes by car. Carlyon Bay also has many excellent beaches as well as a golf course. Today most places are touched by the commercial world, Golant and Fowey its surrounding villages still remain beautiful, quaint and untouched. Golant is 3 miles from Fowey, which has many quaint boutiques, antique shops & fabulous restaurants.

What an experience!

We so enjoyed our time at the Sunday House,what an experience to stay in a home with such history,charm and all the mod cons.The village is so beautiful and so close to so many activities,we canoed,rode horses,hiked and visited many historical places.But some or our favourite moments were lounging in the living room with all of us deep in a book. An unheard of event for a family with 4 teenagers from L A. The evenings on the deck with our wine were lovely too.
Where are we off to next???

The Sunday House is a beautiful house, extremely comfortable and well maintained. It is equipped with everything you may need and more. We particularly enjoyed the excellent quality of all the amenities and the service it came with. In addition, the welcome pack provided us with all the information we needed to explore the region and meet our every question. Thank you to Louisa, the owner for taking such good car of her property and its guests, it is a rare pleasure!

Unique Retreat / Wonderful Location

Where do I begin, I found the Sunday House online and thought it looked perfect for our anniversary getaway. It was perfect, the owner, Louisa, was really helpful and pleasant. Before our arrival she kindly posted us a book that she complied with local area information, things to do, favorite restaurants, etc. The house keeper, Karen, arranged to have all of our food shopping delivered and unpacked before we arrived. We were welcomed with a thoughtful gift basket of local fares and bottle of Champs to celebrate our anniversary. As far as the whole setting, it's amazing- fantastic decor, very comfortable with a lot of thought to detail. We loved the fluffy robes, plush beach towels and amentities. The kitchen was well organized. excellent cooking facilities, kettle, coffee maker, Nepresso machine, Dualit toaster and a good supply of all kitchen equipment and high quality tableware. We had a wonderful dinners at several restaurants in Fowey, 'Sam's, 'Nathan Outlaws', 'The Other Place', 'Q Restaurant' to name a few. Enjoyed our walks along the river and coastal paths. Evenings sitting in the beer garden at the local pub (300 yd's away) overlooking the River Fowey. The area beaches were gorgeous. The property itself was well located for our outings. We loved driving back to the village. The surrounding area is very picturesque. I'm really looking forward to spending my next anniversary at the Sunday House- I highly recommend for a luxury break in a lovely setting.

The Sunday House

The Sunday House is a beautiful home that has been converted from a chapel. It is set near the peaceful Fowey River. The home is conveniently located within walking distance of both the town's pub and playground for children. These two being located so closely brings about a real sense of community within the small town. Regularly families will gather for a drink while their kids play on the playground and neighboring soccer field. All in all the house is beautiful and is a great place to stay for those looking to relax or explore the areas of Cornwall.
