The architecturally designed beach house provides for the ultimate in luxury and relaxation. Sleeping 4-6 people comfortably, this beautiful beachfront getaway allows for privacy within minutes of all that Sri Lanka has to offer. Experience the exciting local cuisine (curries, seafood and tropical fruits), unbelievable diving and swimming, or just sit back on the deck, and watch the sun go down. The house is equipped with two beautifully appointed bedrooms with en suites and modern amenities including dishwasher, 6-burner gas stove, air conditioning etc. Bathrooms are complete with seaviews, and a view of the stars in external bathroom. Private access to the beach, a lovely sea lagoon about 30secs walk, green turtles feeding on the reef in front all provide something for everyone. Surfing for all levels at Unawatuna beach only ten mins walk away. Bars, restaurants and 5-star spas less than 5mins with historic Galle only 10 mins.

  • A lovely tropical or traditional Sri Lankan breakfast is served at a time convenient to you, and included in the rental price. Local curries, breads and seafood can be provided on request, or you could take a trip with the caretaker to select your own seafood. Often a fisherman will come to the house selling lobsters caught fresh that day.

    Massages can be provided at the house, of the caretaker can make suggestions depending on your preferences. 5-star spas exist less than 10mins drive in either Galle or Koggala.

Notes: Marley's is a beautifully self-contained, private beach house situated on the white sandy beaches of Thalpe. Walking distance to restaurants and bars and a quick tuc tuc to Unawatuna, Galle and 5-star hotel dining and spas A caretaker is always on site, providing breakfast daily, and responding to any requests of guests including additional catering, groceries, sight seeing, laundry and transportation. The house is fully contained with air conditioners in each bedroom and the living room. It also boasts a dishwasher, 6-burner gas stove and sleeps six comfortably. There is one king bedroom, one queen plus two single couches in the living room which could be utilised for children or two adults. There are two lovely bathrooms - a contemporary internal bathroom plus an outside bathroom which provides a view of the beach at all times. Things to do: Sight seeing and activities The southern beaches of Sri Lanka are famous for their surf and fabulous fishing spots. The house is only moments away from Unawatuna, and ten minutes from Galle by tuc tuc where you can book scuba, surf and or fishing trips. Sri Lanka is also famous for its precious and semi-precious stones with jewellers available to make pieces on request. Take photos along so you are well prepared if this interests you. Travelling inland, you can visit a number of very important and lovely temples passing rice paddy fields and tea/cinnamon plantations along the way. Spa and health facilities are available in a number of the 5*star hotels locally including the Fortress Hotel at Kogalla or the AmanGala in Galle.

Other Activities: Cultural incl temples, turtle conservation farm, elephant orphanage, local arts and crafts including precious and semi-precious stones and jewellery.

A Piece of Paradise

From the moment we were met by Papa at the airport until we departed Marley's we were made to feel like family. Dimithu, Sameera, Hasantha and Ranga catered to our every needs. Breakfasts and dinners were superb, we were transported to town whenever we wished and Ranga organised details such as accommodation and transport for any excursions away from Galle area.
The house is beautiful, and we spent many hours relaxing on the deck, watching the ocean or reading. A short walk up the beach was a safe swimming area and a little hotel which provided cheap meals and drinks on a deck which overlooked the lagoon. Unawatuna was a short tuk tuk drive away, and we loved shopping in Galle town and in the Fort precinct. A day at the test cricket at Galle Cricket Ground was an unexpected delight.
The property was immaculately clean, and although cooking and dishwashing facilities were available, Ranga and Dimithu were happy to arrange the meals and washing up after us. Breakfasts consisted of fresh fruit, toast, buffalo curd (the best yoghurt we have ever tasted) and 'toddy' (palm) honey and eggs if we wished, washed down with tea or coffee. Dinners prepared by Deepika were great, and much cheaper than restaurant meals.

A washing machine and clothes line meant we could do our own washing. The gardens were well maintained, and we loved the outdoor bathroom.

This villa is ideal for a couple or a family. Transport to town is cheap and Ranga can arrange day trips or excursions further afield. We fell in love with the area, the country and the people, and will be returning as soon as possible.

Fantastic piece of paradise!

We were not dissapointed in any way, this property is as described, clean and well looked after. Ranga looked after us brilliantly, we only had to ask for something and he would produce it! Michelle the owner even phoned us to make sure everything was OK!

The food was fantastic. Breakfast in the morning was fruit, toast and eggs - which set us up for the day. Ranga and his Aunt cooked for us in the evenings most of the time we were there, currys and grilled prawns were so tasty - the food was resturant standard without a doubt but much cheaper!

Ranga arranged our transportation and gave us a guide of Galle, and a shopping trip in the Forte. His local knowledge was invaluable.

Favourite moments were watching the turtles swimming in the sea from the veranda, visiting the turtle farm, watching local fisherman catching sardines on the beach outside the villa whilst we ate breakfast.

I am not sure we will ever stay in a hotel again, this was like living in luxury but being part of Sri Lankan life. The area is not touristy, it felt 'real' with no bit hotels lining the beach, just small friendly guest houses, and a fantastic resturant! I've already recommended this to a friend and am already nagging my husband to take me back - we've not even been home for a week.

My only points to be aware of is the strong sea current meant the sea was dangerous to swim in. There was however a lagoon just a few minutes walk away which allowed us to swim with our toddler (who loved it and now how no fear of water). The only other thing to be aware of is the busy road outside the villa, you do hear the odd beep as the Sri Lankan's drive using their horns - however to be honest the sound of the sea meant you didn't really hear the noise during the day. Don't be put off by either of these though, or you'll miss out on a great holiday.
