Things to do in the Algarve:
There are lovely cliff top coast paths and good bus connections along the Algarve coast in both directions. The Tourist offices have maps and can suggest where to go. Their are many coastal towns which can easily be visited by car ranging from Cape st Vincent and the slaving town of Lagos to the west through to Tavira in the east.
Children and teenagers on holiday in Albufeira will enjoy the Zoo Marine centre at Guia or the water park 'Slide and Splash' in Lagoa. This is a fun day out for all the family with a separate area for very young children to enjoy.
A day at Vilamoura marina and beach is also enjoyable.
Information for Golfers:
With Albufeira being so central it is an ideal base for golf enthusiasts. Most of the popular courses are within a 30 minute drive allowing for a superb variety of year-round golfing. Salgados, Silves and Gramacho are about a 15 minute drive. Salgados is located in the middle of a lovely nature reserve, so has plenty of natural lagoon water hazards to negotiate. Carvoeiro (2 courses) and Penina (3) are 20 to30 minutes' drive west and the 11 international courses at Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago, and Vale de Lobo are about 30 minutes' drive to the east. The new luxury Amendoeira golf resort with 2 championship courses designed by Nick Faldo and Christie O’Connor opened on 1st September 2008 and is only 15 minutes away.
