This large 4 bedroom private villa with a 2 bedroom detached cottage was completely refurbished in 2007 with one of the largest private pools on the island. It stands on a quarter of an acre plot which has been carefully crafted into a lovely tropical garden. All bedrooms are air conditioned and the master bedroom opens up onto the veranda with a view of the pool. Close to several beaches and award winning restaurants. Both rooms in the cottage have a view of the pool and open onto the veranda. The main house can sleep 8 and the cottage 4-5 (the cottage is available at an extra cost). The property is set in a quiet residential area but is only 10 minutes from the airport (no aircraft noise), 4 minutes to the nearest beach, 5 minutes to the best golf club on the island and 3-5 minutes from 2 great restaurants. There is an excellent supermarket 12 minutes away and the capital St Johns is only a 15 minute drive. The guest cottage will not be rented out separately to the house.

The property is situated on the Northern Coast and stands on a quiet, quarter acre plot. The garden is an oasis having a large coconut tree, fruit trees, tropical plants and a large private pool. The nearest beach is 850 meters away or 3 minutes drive. Antigua has 365 beaches. All the main beaches are within a 3-45 minute drive. One of Antigua's best beaches is 8 minutes drive away. Cedar Valley golf course is the best golf course on the island and is only a 5 minute drive from the property. It has an 18 hole, par 69, 5932 yard course.   • All the shower rooms are large and well equipped with American style fan head showers. All the shower rooms were refurbished in 2007.

Notes: The property has both very large outside covered areas to dine and relax and a large open plan indoor lounge dinning room with 42 inch Plasma TV with 100 channels (cable). There are 3 porches two of which over look the pool and tropical garden. At night there are garden lights, pool lights and a floodlit coco nut tree. The garden is a quarter of an acre in size and is an ideal place to just relax by the pool. Inside there are three 3 seat sofas with all have a view of the pool and plasma TV. There are two outside dinning tables which will accommodate up to 12 people and a formal inside dinning area that will seat up to 10. The overall property is very large and comfortable and was completely refurbished in 2007. All bedrooms have both remote control air-conditioning and ceiling fans, that can be set to the desired temperature.

Antigua is not only famous for its beaches but for other leisure facilities including fishing, sailing, water skiing, scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, kite surfing, golf, horse riding and tennis. Antigua has good duty free shopping with rum, spirits, cigars and competitive jewellery stores. The local supermarkets sell Caribbean, American and well known British branded goods. There are plenty of banks, petrol stations and places to buy food and other goods on the island. If you would like your children looked after for a day or more we can recommend a local children's day nursery which is very reasonable and well run, or alternatively we can organise a child carer who can help out during the day or do some baby sitting. We have used both avenues and have been happy with both avenues.

Fun and Games at the Jennings Home

What a wonderful time we had in Antigua! The house was perfect for all of us and so very comfortable. We were 5 adults and 3 kids in our group. John, the very charming property manager, brought us an extra bed for one of the kids so they could all bunk together. We loved the back yard and especially. We had some fun games of capture the flag and relay races in the pool. Lots of happy times were had at the Jennings Home. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We saw most of the island...zip lining, Shirley Heights for the Sunday night party, kayaking and snorkeling with Paddles, horseback riding, eating a lot of local food, Dickenson Bay, exploring the many beautiful beaches and drinking Wadadli beer! We would love to be able to return for a visit some day soon.

John was a real treat and joy to have around. He is so full of life and joy and funny stories. We shared some good times and laughs with him. He brought us some aloe for our sunburns, cuts and bites. You are quite fortunate to have him as your property manager and an ambassador for visitors like us.

As usual we had a fantastic time !! John was great and catered for all our needs and whenever we needed to know anything or enquired about trips,restaurants best beaches , he was quite happy to put himself out to make sure we had a wonderful time . we knew any queries we had John was the guy to ask .
The boys loved the large pool and white sandy beaches especially Half moon bay and long bay with its shallow children friendly waters that you can see lovely shoals of fish yet again we will definitely be coming back and can't wait !! thanks and kind regards the Colliers .

Excellent Villa

We stayed in June 2008. We had an excellent week and at £900 a week for a 4-bedroom villa with own pool, it was terrific value.

The house is in a private residential area but the houses are on large plots, so not overlooked, with unused land to front and back. It's north of St Johns, near Jabberwock beach. There are no shops or bars in the immediate vicinity so a car is essential.

There's a large lounge/dining area and 4 beautifully decorated bedrooms. The pool is superb and we enjoyed watching the kingfishers dive for a drink while we were in the pool! The whole place is clean and John, who visits you on arrival and is contactable for anything, is a really helpful and friendly bloke. He even drove to the supermarket with us behind so we could learn the route!

There is a good selection of DVDs in the lounge for evening entertainment.

We would certainly recommend this place. Our only couple of slight 'downsides' were that, with a family of five each showering twice a day (it was hot!), the water was sometimes tepid/lukewarm. Also, there is no a/c in the lounge due to the high running costs and so it got a bit warm in the evening. We used the fans and opened the windows but it remained quite warm. The owner did explain this to us when we booked. There is a/c in all the bedrooms though.

Neither of these detracted unduly from our stay. I don't think we've ever stayed at a villa where there hasn't been at least one issue - for example, in Costa Blanca, the water was rationed and the shower water was sea water! And this is the Caribbean after all - electricity and water supplies are not what we are sued to in the UK.

So, we would recommend.

Beaches: Half Moon Bay and Long Bay are unmissable.

We were so glad to have found this Villa! It was perfect for a group of four 30 year old, and one 60 year old, for a week in December. Close to the Airport, a quiet and safe neighbourhood, within walking distance of restaurants and a good swimming beach - although a car would be necessary for a stay of more than a few days. For us, it was a good base to explore the island and quickly became a home we were all glad to get back to. Unlike your last reviewer, we had no problem with electricity bills! but were aware of the scarce resources on the island and did not use the AC much - when we were there, it wasn't really needed. The owners could not have been more helpful and the property manager was friendly and efficient. The property is very much as described, and was clean and well kept. We were attending a wedding at a hotel nearby: and so location was important. The Villa would be great for family holiday or older people, or for those whose priority is swimming and water sports. We have already recommended the proberty to a number of people.

BEWARE OF ELECTRCITY CHARGE

It has taken almost 3 months for my security deposit to be returned to me and a deduction was made for additional electricty. When the villa was booked there was no mention of this additional charge.
There is no air conditioning in the lounge, the owners informed us upon our return that we should have left the front door open to create a draught.
Only the central element of the toaster worked, which meant it took twice as long to toast one slice of bread !!!!, maybe this is the reason for the extra electricty charge.
There was no hot water in the morning in the cottage, cold showers are GREAT !!!!
Owner's Response: We welcome all feedback from clients but a 1 out of 5 for a poor toaster and the inability to read our property description and terms is a bit hard. One of my regular clients thinks this review is CRAZY and totally unfair!
Firstly we only advertise Air Conditioning in the bedrooms not in the lounge. The house was designed to take advantage of sea breeze, but this breeze can not be guaranteed 24/7. We surveyed clients whether AC was required in the lounge when we refurbished in 2007 and the clear response was that clients did not come to Antigua to sit in our lounge! Hence we don;t have AC in it. However we do have fans in the lounge.
With regard to electricity costs, we try not to make any extra charges, but it is clearly stated in our terms, that we reserve the right to pass on any excessive electricity costs. This is to deter people leaving all AC's 24/7 which over a week would cost us around £500+ and is not great for the environment!
On the subject of the toaster, we will replace this, but if the clients had asked the property manager he would have done changed this instantly.
Regarding deposits we have had several problems with electronic transfers, but we have no idea that things have gone wrong until we hear from our clients. The banks don't call us, but I wish they did!
What is interesting is that in reality we have had many "repeat bookings", many "referrals", and lots of great feedback, so we can't be that bad! With over 34 clients in the last 2 years we have only received 2 complaints. We get over 60 requests to stay at the house per year and we only allow a maximum of 17 rents per year as we are a non-profit organisation.
Lastly an American travel site has listed us as the best value 4 bedroom villa with Private Pool in the Caribbean! You can pay up to £50,000 per week for as villa in Antigua..so our price from £699 per week is not bad even if the toaster's not great!
