Photos and Description of this Lot holiday cottage Quiet country cottage that sleeps 4 for self catering holiday

This stone built house dating back to the 1850's has been lovingly restored and retains some of the original features. It is set in 10 acres of woodland and gardens. The swimming pool is secure and private and for your use (but occasionally the owners will take a dip). We are discreetly on site to help and advice if necessary. There are two bedrooms on the first floor the master is en suite with a lovely free standing roll top bath.The second bedroom has two single beds with a small adjacent bathroom.The kitchen is well equipped with a lovely country feel. Wood working surfaces and free standing units.There is a wood burning stove in the lounge for colder but cosy evenings. The lounge was the original kitchen and it retains the stone sink and steps.The property has a private terrace with B.B.Q also adjacent to the house there is a 'garden room' with an open fire for cooking and a rustic handmade table that would not be considered small!! The swimming pool is just a few steps away

On the Dordogne/Lot border just 20 kms from the beautiful market town of Sarlat. We have a wealth of history in the region from stunning Chateaux to historic caves.The Dordogne river is 6 kms away for an enjoyable day canoeing past the historic Chateaux set on the hilltops.Domme is one of many beautiful bastide towns in the region dating back to the 100 year war against the English!The cottage is 3 kms from the prehistoric caves of Cougnac which were discovered as recently as the 1950's. Other notable sights are Rocamadour, St.Cirq Lapopie and Sarlat.The region is noted for colourful markets the most famous being Sarlat. Most villages of the region have a fete day in the summer months which give the feeling of 'time standing still' and always includes a meal using local products and dancing to an accordian! For more active pursuits there are many kms of cycle paths and forest walks. Hot air balloon or light aircraft flights over the spectacular Dordogne river are available.

All linen and towels supplied and if adults occupy this room tea,coffee making facilities and hairdryer will be provided. The aspect is similar to the master bedroom enjoying morning sunshine.

Notes: The 10m x 5m swimming pool is secure and the depth is 1m70 at the deepest and 80 cm at the shallowest.There are shallow steps into the pool. With regard to safety we ask that children are supervised at all times. Pets - our resident cat (called Cat-Cat) has requested only low flying birds please. The garden and woodlands are extensive and again we would ask that children are supervised, but feel free to roam.

Booking details: A 20% deposit is requested with the booking. The balance to be paid please one month before the rental period.If payment is not received in that given time the property will be re-advertised for rental. If you cancel your booking 2 months before the rental period your deposit will be refunded in full. We have not asked for a breakages deposit and would not want to offend by getting into debate about costs etc. We trust you will reciprocate with an open admission and offer payment for broken items over and above normal wear and tear.

Other Activities: Canoing is very close by and lakes with 'beaches'. Aqua-park. Woodland adventure park with numerous assult courses and paintballing.

We stayed at the cottage in July 2009 for 7 days.
Perfect place to chill out and relax, exceptional pool, cleaned daily by the owner, great for sun lovers, but plenty of trees for shade.Plenty of well kept gorunds ideal for children to play in.
The cottage is furnished to very high standards, washing machine, full size fridge, oven, microwave and gas hob.
Outside BBQ, and a lovely summer room overlooking the garden to sit and enjoy evening meals and glasses of wine.
Clean fresh bedlinen provided along with large bathroom towels.
The owners have furnished the cottage to a very high standard, making for a very pleasant luxuious stay.
Location perfect for day trips in the surrounding regin.
the owners are very friendly and full of local knowledge and places to visit.They made us very welcome.
Will definetly be returning.
Owner's Response: Kellie and Keith stayed with us in July and they seemed to enjoy all on offer but their main reason to visit this area was to relax and I hope they were able to that as this is an important factor to us. We hope that we shall see all our guests again and we can only thank everybody for their very kind comments.

our easter break was most pleasant despite the unpredictable weather. Our hosts went out of their way to meet our every need and were especially welcoming to our autistic son. The property was tastefully furnished and we wanted for nothing.The large grounds were pleasant and private. A most enjoyable stay

Wonderful Part of the World

This was an amazing place set in stunning surroundings.

It had all the ammenities you could want with the fridge stocked with breakfast things, wine and a few beers and even chocolate left on the bed (definate bonus). Wood was left on the doorstep every morning for the log burner.

The owners were fantastic and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They were full of great information about the area and suggestions for activities.

The cottage was set in the countryside of the Dordogne so it was the perfect place to get away from it all. It was also close enough though to some fantastic places of interest such as the town where they filmed Chocolat and bustling markets.

Its a must for anyone wanting to expIore this beautiful area. I would recommend this to anyone!!
Owner's Response: Dan and Nel were a young outgoing couple who clearly enjoyed the 'get-away feeling' of the area in November. The Lot is not as well known as the Dordgne which gives it an undiscovered feeling. Thank you Dan and Nel look forward to the next time!!
