Shared facilities with other cottage residents include laundry room with a deep freeze, a washing machine (coin operated), a tumble dryer(coin operated), ironing facilities and a vacuum cleaner for guests' use. There is also a communal BBQ area with picnic tables scattered around the grounds for every one's use.
Children have free use of the trampoline in grounds, but strictly at their own risk & whilst under supervision from a competent adult.
Most guests prefer to bring their own sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases, towels and tea towels. There is a local service which will provide freshly laundered linen, including towels to the cottage on the day of check in for about £40
Each bed has a mattress with a cover, duvet, pillows & a number of blankets are available.
The kitchen is reasonably stocked with pots, pans, utensils, crockery & glasses.
Getting there, parking & keys:
Driving from towards Hope Cove from Galmpton, you will pass a large 'Hope Cove' sign with a picture of a bike & a parent/child. Just before you enter the built up area, you will see a sign on the left for 'Inner Hope' (left) and 'Outer Hope' (straight on). Turn left immediately after this sign into the car park area. The spaces are available on a first come first served basis. There are enough spaces for a car for each cottage & there is also parking available on the grass by prior agreement.
Walk down the steps in the bottom right-hand corner of the car park, towards the buildings & turn left at the bottom towards the laundry room. Then turn right down another flight of stairs to the cottages. They are clearly marked with slate signs 1, 2 & 3 Brook Cottage.
At the bottom of the stairs is a water butt, next to which are three key safes which are clearly marked. We will send you the codes upon receipt of your final payment.
Things to do:
Along the South Devon Coastal Path going West is South Milton Sands with its limestone arch (NT). Thurlstone Sands is only a 30 minute walk away (even with a buggy), with beautiful beaches & an 18 hole golf course.
A few miles further on, Bantham and Bigbury are both wide beaches, popular with windsurfers & swimmers. At low tide Bigbury beach connects to Burgh Island & its cosy 'smugglers' pub dating from 14th Century. There is a little cafe by the beach selling tasty organic produce from sustainable local farms within a 15 mile radius.
Going East along the South Devon Coast Path , towards Salcombe, will take you past a restaurant with a Pirates playground at Bolt Head & about 2 hours later onto the Overbecks National Trust property at South Sands Beach in Salcombe.
