Seaside house, sleeps 8 people, set in grounds down to the beach.

The Blue House, is a pretty 4 bed cottage, in its own private garden of 2 acres. The house has just been completely refurbished. It has fabulous sea views over the Western Solent with a woodland walk down to the beach. It was just featured in Coast magazine.

Located in the village of Gurnard on the Isle of Wight 'The Blue House' has four bedrooms overlooking the garden, a large contemporary living area with vaulted ceiling, and a huge, wrap around deck with fabulous views over to the New Forest.

The bedrooms all feature luxurious beds with cotton sheets and all natural feather and goose down duvets and pillows, the master bedroom has a large en suite bathroom and glass doors that open on to the deck and the romantic sea view.

The 'big' room has a spacious kitchen and sitting room.

The house is completely private and totally secluded, yet within walking distance of a great pub and shops. Single level makes it ideal for wheel chair users.

Hi Tim,
A hearty thanks from Elaine and myself............ The Blue House proved to be an excellent place to stay. You have done a great job in remodelling the place and I am sure you will enjoy full bookings for many seasons to come.
Best regards,

Owner's Response: Great to get another nice review! Now the winters here its time to think about those wild cliff top walks, great pub lunches and then coming back to tea and the log fire. Wildlife is still vibrant especially the red squirrels hunting for food.
There must be more bridleways and seaside walking/cycling per square mile on the island than anywhere else in Britain.

Fantastic spot for a relaxing break

Review Submitted: July 20, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
Thanks Tim - what a wonderful property in a great location!

The minute we got on the ferry across to the Isle of Wight the stresses and strains of the 'real world' begin to slip away and from there it just kept getting better.

The Blue House is truly a fantastic place to spend some time in complete comfort with everything you could wish for on hand. We were lucky enough to benefit from great weather so being able to fling open the doors to the wonderful garden and spend as much time outside as in was a real bonus.

Having your own pathway down through woods to a secluded beach was fantastic and meant there was no great compulsion to venture further afield though when we did drag ourselves away, bike rides into Cowes and trips out to some of the Island's attractions proved great fun for the family.

Overall, between the property and the general feel of the Isle of Wight, the whole trip was reminiscent of holidays from another age when the days were long and carefree and there was no end of joy to be had from life's simple pleasures!

Can't wait to return!

Spent a week in the 'The Blue House' with friends - 8 people in total 4 adults, 4 older kids. Loads of space inside and out. All the tech requirements of teenagers fully met. Gorgeous location, the sunsets were particularly pretty. Great property, clean, stylish and very, very comfortable. Very different to our own propeties, we really felt we were living the beach life and wish we had booked for longer! Have no hesitation in recommending.

Little Slice of Heaven

Review Submitted: March 19, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2009
In October a group of us rented the lovely Blue House - it was absolutely amazing. Stunningly decorated (if you don't believe me, just check the February 2010 issue of Coast magazine!) and situated conveniently close to Cowes, Blue House is the perfect retreat. The house is geniusly laid-out with the bedrooms a comfortable distance from the living area - perfect for families or those friends who like to retire earlier than the rest. The owner is lovely and renting the home was a breeze. I should also mention that everything has been thought of from the dvd/iPod player to the fully kitted out kitchen.

I've already recommended the home to a number of friends and I will definitely be returning each year as well.

Great relaxing holiday

Review Submitted: October 13, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
The house was just what we wanted and a great location. The views from the garden are amazing overlooking the solent and i have never seen a sunset like it!

A short walk down the hill takes you into Gurnard which has a cafe which does fantastic breakfasts and also lunch. There is also a pub less than 2 minutes walk away which is always good!

The supermarket at the end of the road was fantastic, they stocked pretty much everything that you would need.

The walk through the wooded area down to the beach is good for walking a dog but isn't ideal with small children, you defiantely wouldn't be able to get a push chair down that way but its not a problem, you just talk the road route down the hill which only takes a couple of minutes.

We were very lucky with the weather, it was very warm and sunny and meant that we could walk into cowes each day (approximately 25 minutes stroll) and wonder around the shops and spend the afternoon in the pub, perfect for a relaxing family holiday!

Our only problem that we had was that the garden wasn’t properly enclosed so wasn’t really suitable for the dog. Had there of been a gate or a fence at either side of the garden before the front driveway it wouldn’t have been a problem. This is something that has been mentioned and i understand that a gate and fence will be put in.

It is also very difficult if you have small children as the area down to the woods is on an edge and very open so you have to contantly watch them to make sure they don't go near it.

There were 6 of us in the house for a week along with a baby and 18 month old so we had one spare bedroom. I would say that it would have been a struggle if we were using the other bedroom as well as there is only 1 on-suite and one sperate toilette with a seperate room for the bath/shower. This would have meant that there was 6 of us sharing 1 toitlette and 1 bath/shower and we were struggling with 4 as it was.

There also isn't any wardrobe space in a couple of the rooms which meant that we couldn't unpack for the week but this wasn't really a problem.

All in all a great house in a great location and we really enjoyed ourselfs and had a very relaxing holiday. We would defiantely go back again as long as there is a gate in place to keep the dog from the front drive and the road.

Owner's Response: This is a very constructive review, we have already addressed some of the problems our guests encountered, namely more room for clothes and more fencing. To be totally honest though, given its a two acre garden with a wood going down to the beach, it will never be totally dog proof, or 100 per cent child proof. Its a wild life garden, and to totally enclose it with fences rather loses the charm and the point of it.
With regard to the loo's and the showers etc, when two families are sharing, each family has their own bathroom effectively. So we've never encountered any issue with this.
I would whole heartedly agree about the breakfasts and the sunset, there is nothing like sitting on the deck, watching the sun go down, with a cocktail in one hand and a pair of Bar-B-Q tongs in the other!
