Great relaxing holiday

The house was just what we wanted and a great location. The views from the garden are amazing overlooking the solent and i have never seen a sunset like it!
A short walk down the hill takes you into Gurnard which has a cafe which does fantastic breakfasts and also lunch. There is also a pub less than 2 minutes walk away which is always good!
The supermarket at the end of the road was fantastic, they stocked pretty much everything that you would need.
The walk through the wooded area down to the beach is good for walking a dog but isn't ideal with small children, you defiantely wouldn't be able to get a push chair down that way but its not a problem, you just talk the road route down the hill which only takes a couple of minutes.
We were very lucky with the weather, it was very warm and sunny and meant that we could walk into cowes each day (approximately 25 minutes stroll) and wonder around the shops and spend the afternoon in the pub, perfect for a relaxing family holiday!
Our only problem that we had was that the garden wasn’t properly enclosed so wasn’t really suitable for the dog. Had there of been a gate or a fence at either side of the garden before the front driveway it wouldn’t have been a problem. This is something that has been mentioned and i understand that a gate and fence will be put in.
It is also very difficult if you have small children as the area down to the woods is on an edge and very open so you have to contantly watch them to make sure they don't go near it.
There were 6 of us in the house for a week along with a baby and 18 month old so we had one spare bedroom. I would say that it would have been a struggle if we were using the other bedroom as well as there is only 1 on-suite and one sperate toilette with a seperate room for the bath/shower. This would have meant that there was 6 of us sharing 1 toitlette and 1 bath/shower and we were struggling with 4 as it was.
There also isn't any wardrobe space in a couple of the rooms which meant that we couldn't unpack for the week but this wasn't really a problem.
All in all a great house in a great location and we really enjoyed ourselfs and had a very relaxing holiday. We would defiantely go back again as long as there is a gate in place to keep the dog from the front drive and the road.

Owner's Response: This is a very constructive review, we have already addressed some of the problems our guests encountered, namely more room for clothes and more fencing. To be totally honest though, given its a two acre garden with a wood going down to the beach, it will never be totally dog proof, or 100 per cent child proof. Its a wild life garden, and to totally enclose it with fences rather loses the charm and the point of it.
With regard to the loo's and the showers etc, when two families are sharing, each family has their own bathroom effectively. So we've never encountered any issue with this.
I would whole heartedly agree about the breakfasts and the sunset, there is nothing like sitting on the deck, watching the sun go down, with a cocktail in one hand and a pair of Bar-B-Q tongs in the other!
