Hi Tim,
A hearty thanks from Elaine and myself............ The Blue House proved to be an excellent place to stay. You have done a great job in remodelling the place and I am sure you will enjoy full bookings for many seasons to come.

Owner's Response: Great to get another nice review! Now the winters here its time to think about those wild cliff top walks, great pub lunches and then coming back to tea and the log fire. Wildlife is still vibrant especially the red squirrels hunting for food.
There must be more bridleways and seaside walking/cycling per square mile on the island than anywhere else in Britain.

Great relaxing holiday

Wokingam Berkshire
Review Submitted: October 13, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
The house was just what we wanted and a great location. The views from the garden are amazing overlooking the solent and i have never seen a sunset like it!

A short walk down the hill takes you into Gurnard which has a cafe which does fantastic breakfasts and also lunch. There is also a pub less than 2 minutes walk away which is always good!

The supermarket at the end of the road was fantastic, they stocked pretty much everything that you would need.

The walk through the wooded area down to the beach is good for walking a dog but isn't ideal with small children, you defiantely wouldn't be able to get a push chair down that way but its not a problem, you just talk the road route down the hill which only takes a couple of minutes.

We were very lucky with the weather, it was very warm and sunny and meant that we could walk into cowes each day (approximately 25 minutes stroll) and wonder around the shops and spend the afternoon in the pub, perfect for a relaxing family holiday!

Our only problem that we had was that the garden wasn’t properly enclosed so wasn’t really suitable for the dog. Had there of been a gate or a fence at either side of the garden before the front driveway it wouldn’t have been a problem. This is something that has been mentioned and i understand that a gate and fence will be put in.

It is also very difficult if you have small children as the area down to the woods is on an edge and very open so you have to contantly watch them to make sure they don't go near it.

There were 6 of us in the house for a week along with a baby and 18 month old so we had one spare bedroom. I would say that it would have been a struggle if we were using the other bedroom as well as there is only 1 on-suite and one sperate toilette with a seperate room for the bath/shower. This would have meant that there was 6 of us sharing 1 toitlette and 1 bath/shower and we were struggling with 4 as it was.

There also isn't any wardrobe space in a couple of the rooms which meant that we couldn't unpack for the week but this wasn't really a problem.

All in all a great house in a great location and we really enjoyed ourselfs and had a very relaxing holiday. We would defiantely go back again as long as there is a gate in place to keep the dog from the front drive and the road.

Owner's Response: This is a very constructive review, we have already addressed some of the problems our guests encountered, namely more room for clothes and more fencing. To be totally honest though, given its a two acre garden with a wood going down to the beach, it will never be totally dog proof, or 100 per cent child proof. Its a wild life garden, and to totally enclose it with fences rather loses the charm and the point of it.
With regard to the loo's and the showers etc, when two families are sharing, each family has their own bathroom effectively. So we've never encountered any issue with this.
I would whole heartedly agree about the breakfasts and the sunset, there is nothing like sitting on the deck, watching the sun go down, with a cocktail in one hand and a pair of Bar-B-Q tongs in the other!

Half term magic

stans family Worthing Sussex
Review Submitted: June 5, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
we went eight handed during half term, it was like an oasis with little noise a fantastic location and stunning sunsets. Good attention to detail the rooms were very comfortable and modern done in the style of a beach hut. The gardens were beautiful, always with somewhere to catch the sun. The swing and trampoline were a great bonus for the grandchildren.
We ate out on the deck had a barbeque and chilled out.
Be warned that its a bit of a steep path down to the sea but nothing that a healthy 60 year old like me couldn't cope with. The wildlife was abundant with red squirrels in the garden along with woodpeckers and finches. Wish we could keep it a secret.
Well done Tim we will be seeing you again definately

Owner's Response: I was genuinely thrilled to read this review, because it makes renting the house so worthwhile. I'm also glad that they saw the magic of the place in action.
I have had to remove the trampoline for insurance, but the sunsets, the red squirrels and the woodpeckers are out in abundance.
And for those who like bracing sea cliff walks followed by cosy winter evenings in front of a log fire I am installing a wood burner in the main room.

Owner's Response: They are definately right about the pub and the shop. The pub has some good bands on in the evening and a petanque area. The shop is stocked with an amazingly useful selection of things.

What a fantastic location!

Asouthseaskimmer portsmouth, hants, UK
Review Submitted: May 3, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
The Blue House is simply amazing - perched above the beach at Gurnard, set in a large garden with a path through the woods that takes you down to the beach. The large decking outside gets the sun all day and makes for a perfect place to sit out, relax, have barbeques etc. the house itself is very well presented - all newly decorated and furnished in a very stylish, beach hut style and with all the creature comforts required - including a couple of amazing showers! The kitchen is very well equiped and perfect for preparing those large family or group meals - and teh little shop just down the road is amazingly well stocked. All this and only a shortish walk round to Cowes too. To cap it off Tim, the owner, is incredibly welcoming, friendly and accomodating. All in all, a little piece of paradise which makes for a perfect break fom the rat race - great for adults and kids too!
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: This was from one of our very first guests, so I am thrilled that they were so kind. He is totally right about the shop..and if they haven't got what you want they are only too pleased to order it for you.
