Beautiful, bright, villa with private pool close to the centre of the quaint village of Sorede, in the South of France, very suitable for families. It has the best of both worlds with amazing views of the Alberes mountains and 10 minutes from sunny beaches. Peaceful yet situated in a lively, very friendly typical Catalan village. A short walk to shops, restaurants, bars. Pick up freshly baked croissants and baguettes from the boulangerie right across the road and enjoy the twice weekly market. The villa has four bedrooms containing two double beds and four single beds. There are two separate sitting rooms with a sofa bed in each. The secluded paved outdoor area extends to 350 square metres and has a private swimming pool. There are enchanting walks and cycle paths on your doorstep. You can play tennis or boules in the village or cycle up to the Lavail valley and jump into one of the cool rock pools.

Sorede is a lively Catalan village nestling in the foothills of the Alberes Mountains about 10 mins from beautiful beaches of the nearby Mediterranean. This enchanting village has five restaurants, boulangeries, bank, post office, children’s playground & tourist information office. Its attractions include a twice-weekly market where you can buy fresh produce from the surrounding farms and vineyards. There are many nearby attractions including a turtle zoo, the famous eagles of Chateau Valmy, the Musee de L’Olivette. For the energetic there is horse trekking, canyoning, tennis and all sorts of water sports. The area is peppered with enchanting walks and cycle tracks, rivers to swim in and mountains to hike in. Sorede benefits from French, Spanish and Catalan influences and is very friendly and hospitable. Sorediens greet you with a 'Bonjour' on the way to the market and are delighted to offer a steaming coffee to go with your morning croissants.

Day Trips : The coastline is peppered with beautiful beaches, secluded coves and small harbours running right up to the edge of the Pyrenees mountains near the Spanish border. There are many promenades and long sandy beaches, interesting cycle tracks and Spain is only a twenty minute drive along the motorway. The historic centres of Figueres and Girona are well worth a visit, as is the Dali Museum at Figueres. You will be spoiled for choice during the season with lunch and dinner venues or you can buy your own fresh fish and shellfish straight from the trawlers at Port Vendres to throw on the BBQ. The old coast road provides really spectacular views and you can zig zag across the coastal mountainside enjoying spectacular views of the Mediteranean. On the Spanish side you can visit renowned painter Salvador Dali's house at Port Lligat and lunch at the delightful fishing town of Cadaques before heading to the lively beaches of Roses.

A comfortable and well equipped villa with a lovely pool. The villa is clean, bright and airy in a perfect central location within the village. The neighbours were very friendly particularly Mr. and Mrs Llong (and Max the dog) who own the bakers opposite.
A good base for visiting all the attractions in the area, recomended locally are The Tortoise Sanctuary (5 minutes away) The Tropical Butterflies in Elne and our favourite, the Eagles of Chateau Valmy.
Spain is on the doorstep and a visit to Dali's home in Portlligat is well worth the winding roads. (Visits must be pre-booked)
Jane's brother-in-law, Robert, was always available for assistance but never intrusive.
The weather was perfect and we dined al fresco for all but 4 evenings.
Beware "The Rugby Bar" very expensive and the twice weekiy market is nothing to write home about when the freshest of fruit and veg can be bought at the local shop just yards from the front door.

An excellent holiday, we would love to visit again the the future.

The house on arrival look as though it was small but lay all your doubts aside when we got inside it was surprisingly spacious. It was in the heart of the village just opposite the bakers, one tip do not use car gate nearest to the house as you my ground your car but there is still room for two cars. The house was clean, tidy and jane's brother in law showed us around .the local attactions which includes a turttle farm [good for all ages] there was a few restaurants in the village which I would reccomend and again the local bar if you like me do not talk french take a phase book so at least you can say a few words . The locals are always polite and say hello [bonjour]
