Village location:
The villa is situated a short walk from the centre of the village of Montauroux. This has restaurants and a range of shops, with stunning views over the Esterel hills from the central square. There is no need to drive anywhere once you have arrived!
During the summer Montauroux is famous for its music festivals to suit most tastes, often in the central square.
The butcher speaks some english, and will make burgers from fresh meat in front of you. He has excellent sausages, and other meat, for the BBQ.
The Area:
There are a number of old, walled villages from Grasse along the Fayence valley. Fayence is the biggest, with a large selection of restaurants to suit all budgets. Seillon is small, but absolutely charming.
There are a selection of supermarkets and regular shops, with a mixture of opening hours. Leclerc is a short drive from the villa, and has a wide selection of produce, in particular a stunning fish counter.
The Terre Blanche golf and spa centre is also a short drive away. The spa facilities are breathtaking, and the two golf courses are of championship standard. The pricing reflects this! Less expensive golf can be found at St Endreol, or several other courses towards Grasse and Cannes.
Lac St Cassien - a 10 minute drive - is said to be the biggest lake in France, and provides all kinds or water based activities. Parking can be a problem in peak season.
Beaches are a half hours drive away.
Fayence is a major gliding centre for enthusiasts.
Children, the Elderly and Pets:
Children are welcome. Very small children may find the steps to the pool area difficult.
The elderly may also find the stairs and steps difficult.. The toilets are upstairs and in the outside kitchen area.
Dogs are welcome, with responsible owners! Our Jack Russell has never escaped!
The walk to the village includes a short but steep hill.
Golf:
Terre Blanche, St Endreol, Grasse, Cannes provide good tests of golf.
Other Activities:
Fun activities on St Cassien lake. Montauroux music festival in the summer.
