Local area: The village of St. Laurent-des-Arbres sits in the heart of the Languedoc Roussillon, close to the border with Vaucluse and the Bouches-du-Rhone. Almost equal distant from the fortified city of Avignon, home of the Popes, to the South (17km) and the Roman city of Orange to the East (15km). St. Laurent is a medieval village of winding streets and shady squares, complete with it's own castle in the centre, several restaurants, bakeries, newsagent, grocery shop, chemist, post office, bar and even a hair dresser. It has it's own food market every Friday and an evening market for local arts and crafts once a week.

This is the land of Van Gogh, of beautiful light, of the vivid colours of the deep blue skies and yellow sun flowers, and the ripening grapes on the vine.
