Family Fun:
'Marineland', one of Europe's largest fun parks, is a 10 minute drive or by train a few minutes walk from Biot train station. A thrilling sea-theatre with orcas, seals and Dolphins. The entertainment complex includes separate fun parks, an aquapark 'Aqua Splash' with water slides, 'Far West', a farm, 'Adventure Golf' crazy golf and a go cart track. Also is 'Antibes-Land' funfair. There is something for children of all ages. For an unusual day out, try Villa Kerylos along the dramatic coast road from Nice port to Beaulieu. Go back in time in a luxurious palace on the shores of the Mediterranean and enter the second century BC world of a wealthy Greek merchant. Discover the Cap d'Antibes in the 'Visiobulle' - a glass-bottom boat which leaves from the beach at Juan-les-Pins, showing the underwater view of the millionaires' bay with its cliffs and sea reefs.
Excursions:
'Juan Les Pins' is the perfect destination for touring or relaxing on the French Rivieia all year round. The excellent train service runs along the coast line as far as Italy calling at the famous resorts of Menton, Monaco, Villefranche, Nice and Cannes. For those who would rather visit the more medieval villages you can head inland to St. Paul de Vence, Eze Village, Valbonne and Mougins or further north to the historic town of Grasse, which is famous for it's perfume industry since the 16th century. At the Fragonard Perfume museum, you can see the traditional techniques and can create your own bottle. Take a relaxing boat trip to Saint Tropez or the Lerin Islands. By Car drive along the 'Moyenne corniche' one of the most beautiful coast roads in Europe from Italy to Monaco. Monaco is famed for its rally in January, Grand Prix in May and beautiful casino and Royal Palace. Drive further along the coast to Saint Raphael, St Maxime and a visit to Port Grimaud is a must.
Skiing and Winter Sports:
There are several ski resorts in the French Alps for example Isola 2000 and Auron, on the edge of the Mercantour National Park, approx 1 hour north of Nice, towards Italy. At 2000m, Isola has 120 km of pistes, a total of 45 (4 black, 14 red, 20 blue, 7 green). Purpose built in the 70s, there are ample ski lifts. Auron, at 1600m, is a typical alpine village with 132 km of pistes. The 'Ecole de Ski Francais' runs beginners and advanced classes in English, with 110 instructors in each resort. Plenty of shops renting skis & equipment. Also snowboarding and snow-karting. Lively restaurants and cafes on the edge of the pistes, and a panoramic view from the cable-car up to 2300m. Christmas: Santa visits in a sleigh and champagne and hot chocolate are served at midnight on the piste on New Year's Eve with skiers descending the slopes with flaming torches. Other resorts include Valberg, L’Audibergue, Greolieres-Les-Neiges, Beuil-LesLaunes. All within 1-2 hours drive.
Golf:
For those golfers who want to combine golf during the day, enjoy the vibrant night life of Juan les Pins and Cannes by night and relax by the beach and pool in between games of golf. There are several excellent golf courses within the region all within easy reach by car between a 15-45 min drive depending on your preference. 'Golf Country Club' Cannes-Mougins: created by Dave Thomas and Peter Allis with wooded hills and lakes. Truly one of the best courses in France. 'Royal Mougins': an attractive course requiring accuracy with interesting water hazards, it has hosted the French Open. 'Old Course' Cannes-Mandelieu: founded in 1891 by Grand Duke Michael of Russia. Other courses include 'Golf Club De Biot', 'Golf De La Bastide', 'Golf Du Claux-Amic', 'Golf D’Opio', 'Golf Du Chateau De Taulane', and 'Monte Carlo Golf Club'.
