Less than 5 minutes walk from the centre of the delightful white village of Alcaucin in Axarquia, and on a main walking route into the Sierra Tejeda national park, making this an ideal choice for walking holidays and nature lovers wanting to explore the Andalucia countryside. Excellent views, historic Andalucia architecture and an abundance of Costa del Sol flora and fauna make this an ideal location for travellers wanting to sample traditional Spain and the natural beauty of Andalucia. A place to get away from it all and relax but with Alcaucin restaurants and bars only a short walk away. 20 mins drive to the local seaside town of Torre del Mar, with its large shopping centre and easy access to Malaga and Nerja.

The white village of Alcaucin is located in the less commercialised Axarquia region of Andalucia on the Costa del Sol, providing a taste of real Spain. Axarquia is dotted with rural white villages dating back to before the Moors - Alcaucin is typical. Located 50 mins drive east of Malaga and 20 mins west of Nerja, Alcaucin nestles 20 mins north of the seaside resort of Torre del Mar, with its El Ingenio shopping centre and Aquavelis water park. The historic city of Granada with the grand Alhambra Palace is a 90 min drive away, and the Sierra Nevada mountain range is also well within reach. Places to visit include: Comarez, a sleepy hill top village (45 mins); Nerja and its famous Balcon de Europa and caves (25 mins); the picturesque mountain village of Frigiliana (30 mins); Malaga, a thriving city with castle and the Picasso Museum (50 mins); Velez-Malaga, the local working town - one of the last Moorish strongholds (15 mins); and Periana, famous for its olive oil (25 mins).

  • The property ranges over 4 floors. On the top floor is the master bedroom, with a separate bathroom and large patio doors with shutters to a private balcony with table, four chairs and two sunloungers. The balcony has good views of the Ventas de Zaffarya. The bedroom includes a simple futon chair that can be made up into a single bed if required. The second and third bedrooms are on the first floor along with a family bathroom. In both rooms the single beds can be pushed together to make extra large double beds. Both rooms have large patio doors with shutters. Bedroom two has a small balcony.

Notes: This holiday rental has been marked as unsuitable for the elderly or infirm, because it ranges over four floors and has a number of staircases. It is however suitable for elderly people who can comfortably get up and down stairs. Children are most welcome, but families with toddlers will also need to be aware of the staircases. The large garage includes a laundry area with washing machine, tumble dryer, sink, clothes airers, iron and ironing board. The communal swimming pool is private and for residents only, accessible by key through a locked gate. The lounge includes a large balcony area (half of which is covered) and has a gas barbeque, large table and chairs, making it ideal for al fresco dining.
