If you can ignore the lure of the beach and boat life, within easy drive you have: Collioure (20mins) – a delightful medieval port, town and castle; Gerona (80mins) a bustling but ancient Spanish city; Carcassone’s (75mins) castellated splendour; Barcelona (130mins) Spain’s second city; Andorra & The Pyrenees (120mins). Once home to Picasso, Ceret is also well worth a visit (30mins). And the Costa Brava (60 mins) is a great day out. For those without a car there is also plenty to do and places to go. The local bus and trains are frequent in mid and high season. Bike riding is easy locally because it’s level (until you get to the Pyrenees!) There is a water taxi service three minutes walk away which, in season, goes directly to the port offering a range of shopping, dining and people-watching opportunities. Enjoy!!

    What is included in rental rate? Electricity, bed linen, towels, hair dryer and beach towels are included. We have recently included beach towels to enable travelers with the low cost airlines to minimize their baggage. Enough linen is provided for a change each week. A clean after your stay is included. There is always a generous Welcome Basket providing enough for a good arrivals snack with wine and water in the fridge. And all those little things you normally have to dash out for are there – tea and coffee, salt and pepper, dishwasher powder, washing-up liquid, soap and, of course, toilet rolls!

Within 3 minutes walk (really!), there is a small but buzzing little shopping centre which from April through to mid-October offers the following: Good convenience store; 2 Bakers & a Patisserie; Fish Shop (wet and cooked); Butcher and cooked meats; 2 Greengrocers 2 Pizza Places (inc. take-away); 2 good restaurants; salad and creperie and coffee shop; Newsagent and adjacent post box: and, if needed, a doctor's surgery. Out of season the butcher, baker, fishmonger and greengrocery also selling wines are open daily 08.00 - 12.30. Also year round, WiFi web access available from MonaDelices corner store. Just five minutes by car, the port offers shops, boutiques, restaurants, etc in plenty throughout the year. On foot it’s a pleasant and easy twenty minute appetiser! A few minutes stroll in the opposite direction, the four star Hotel Ile de La Lagune and Restaurant L’Almandin provide gastronomy and wines for those who want to spoil themselves.

For Golfers: Golf de Saint Cyprien is less than 10 minutes drive from Les Capellans. St Cyprien International Golf Course is one of the best in France. Full details and review are available online, please contact owners for website details. There are two courses - the ‘Canigou Etang’ championship 18 holes and the ‘Saint Cyprien’ 9 holes - both with water hazards, and both offer stimulating play for the experienced and the inexperienced golfer. By coincidence two of our guests – both golf addicts – were told about this course by their pro who has played it himself and thoroughly commends it! Golf de Saint Cyprien is also home to the Patrick Lacroix Golf Academy. It was the first to be established in France, and has now become a very respected institution. Out of high season we are happy to accommodate long weekends or short breaks of four nights or fewer from September to May. Prices are 60% of those indicated for the dates on this site. Here's the information from the course website: “As the first genuine golf resort in France, Golf de Saint Cyprien is one of the most reputed golf destinations in the country. Located next to the Mediterranean and close to the Spanish border, the area benefits from an unlimited supply of sunshine. The hotel’s main restaurant Mas d'Huston***, is famous for its haute cuisine and is open to non-residents. For lunch, guests can enjoy the casual atmosphere of the poolside Parasols restaurant (which for most of the year incidentally has a great buffet!). Two swimming pools, tennis courts, windsurfing, bicycle rides and nearby beaches add to the resort's amenities. With Mount Canigou towering in the background, the Roussillon region offers a wide variety of activities, from seaside fun to backpacking in the foothills of the Pyrénées Mountains.

Ski: The ski slopes of the Pyrenees are just 2 hours drive away and offer slopes for all capabilities but with less crowds and at lower costs than other French/Swiss options. Combine this opportunity with our low winter rental rates and short week breaks or long weekend opportunities and you have a real bargain ski deal!

Golf: The St Cyprien 18 hole course is about 6900 yards (medal tees) par 72, flat, fairly featureless, a cross between links and parkland, and technically demanding. The 9 hole is 3000 yards (medal) par 35, also flat, but more scenically attractive (parkland, with more trees and water) and although less demanding, is probably more fun, and it’s worth considering playing twice to get the 18 holes in preference to the ‘big course’. Facilities are excellent, and it’s possible to hire clubs, trolleys etc. Cost of a round is between 40 and 55 euros depending on the time of year. Golf du Domaine de Falgos is an outstandingly beautiful, relatively short (5500 yards, par 70) and technically interesting parkland/forest course, but not annoyingly ‘tricky’ as some short courses are. It’s difficult to imagine a golf course being here in the mountains, but it’s worth the twisty journey just to see it. Predictably, the course is hilly/undulating, but exhilarating! The facilities are excellent, and clubs, trolleys and carts can be hired. Golf de Carcassonne is a parkland course, characterised by wide fairways, fast and challenging greens, some very interesting holes (1, 9 and 18 involve either steep climbs or drops) and lovely views across rolling countryside. It is just over 6300 yards, par 71. Cost of a round about 35 to 45 euros, and half sets of clubs and trolleys/carts can be hired.

Have just returned from a wonderful week in this beautiful property. Everything you could ever want, extremely generous welcome pack and everything provided even down to beach towels and beach umbrella. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, the apartment is very well located with beaches, restaurants and shopping close by.
The location instructions were excellent, took the owners advice and ignored the satnav, then followed the very clear written instructions.
Would certainly recommend this property to others, we liked it so much that we have rebooked for next year, this time for a two week stay, one week was not enough! Lots to see in the area if you get bored with the beach. We have stayed in many self catering rental properties in France over the past few years, but this comes out on top!

Excellent appartment, Very clean and well presented. Ideal for a family
of four. Teenagers loved the swimming pool. Loved the local shops as they were 2 mins walk away from the appartment. 20 mins walk to
Aqualand. The views from both balconies were lovely. Managed a week without a car!! As plenty to do locally. Would recommend to family and friends.
Hosts were very welcolming and loved the Welcome Pack.

Exceptional apartment. Fantastic location.

We had a fantastic relaxing week at the apartment with our two young children.

The apartment is exceptional with wonderful views across the marina on one side and the grounds from the other. The attention to detail and personal attention shown by Elaine and John made a real difference. From the welcome pack (bread, cheese, milk, butter and wine), to the DVD's, CD's and beach towels.

The commercial centre adjacent to the apartments more than provided for our daily requirements, whilst the nearby town centre provided a fantastic variety of restaurants. The beaches and surrounding area are wonderful and not overcrowded, which is a pleasant change compared to some holiday areas.

The drive from Girona airport was easy and stress free, and will be the route we will utilise again for future visits.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment to friends and family, and fully intend to return again.

Excellent Appt in St Cyrpien

We have just returned from a lovely weeks stay at this appartment in St Cyprien. On arrival the owner, John, was there tro greet us personally and gave us a tour of the aoocomodation and ran though the essentials with us. This was a lovely and reassuring start to our stay. He had also provided us with a generous welcome basket which included essentials such as ham cheese butter milk fruit and of course wine!!
The property was very well equipped (dishwasher, washing machine, TV with DVD and Sky box) and even included a gas BBQ which we took advantage of!
Being a 'clean' freak I had no worries - the place was immaculate!! Bed linen and towels etc all freshly laundered.

The location was fab - being on the top floor with beautiful views of the marina and the added benifit of not being able to hear any noise from uptstairs etc - though I have to say that the building was very quite in any event.

The Centre Commerciale - just a stones throw away was brilliant for day to day shoping - fresh bread, fish and meat - and some lovely little restaurants too - we were spoilt!!

I have no hesitation in recommeding this property - it is a real gem - this should be the standard of all such holiday lets - and we hope to return soon!!

Perfect Holiday

Our holiday was perfect. The apartment was fabulous, super clean and modern yet cosy. The marina view from the balcony has to be seen to be believed - mesmerizing!
Our boys 10 & 13yrs loved the pool, extremely clean and never over busy.
The sand is soft and the sea clean and clear. We had great fun exploring the surrounding area from the bustling city of Perpignan to the tiny peaceful Castlenou. Everything was just as John had described, the commercial centre offers great amenities, friendly restaraunts (Ascoli's was fab) good coffee shops etc. and the welcome pack in the apartment was invaluable with easy directions to chemists, supermarkets, places to visit.
John and Elaine had thought of everything, from the friendly welcome and wine to spare adaptor plugs. Thank you for a wonderful holiday!
We are already planning our return trip!
