Les Lavandières is a typically French end of terrace house in the heart of this pretty hilltop village situated in the heart of some of the loveliest scenery in this region known as the Razés.
You are ideally placed to visit the incredible fortified city of Carcassonne (about 25 mins), Montsegur and other Cathar mountain fortresses. Andorra and Albi are within reach, as is the Mediterranean coast and 15 minutes away you will find Mirepoix, one of France’s prettiest medieval market towns. Beyond Foix (45 mins) is the longest underground river in Europe where you can take a boat trip through the stalagmites and stalactites. Relax along the tranquil Canal du Midi which wends its way towards the Mediterranean, perfect for walking, cycling or hiring a boat for the day. Local wines can be tasted at most of the Domaines and especially recommended is the Blanquette de Limoux – a sparkling wine made by a process older than that of Champagne.
