La Borie du Four consists of two connecting farmhouses, La Figue and La Chataigne with room for 17. La Figue sleeps up to 9 in 3 double bedrooms, a twin and a single bedroom. Our traditional stone farmhouse is a spacious house with exposed beams, extensive living and dining area, a lovely large fireplace and private sun terrace. With a fully equipped kitchen and open lounge area, the farmhouse is everything that a family or group of friends could wish for on their perfect vacation. There is a shower room, separate toilet and a bathroom. La Chataigne sleeps up to 8 in 3 double bedrooms and a twin bedroom all with en-suite shower rooms. Connecting to La Figue and sharing all the same amenities, La Chataigne is a charming property with a large open living space, a massive traditional fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and a huge private sun terrace, partly covered in ivy. Guests of both houses have full access to the pool, the sauna, the fitness room and the lovely grounds.

wow, the most relaxing holiday ever!

We rented La Borie du Four for two weeks in August 2008. We stayed with three families, 6 adults, 7 teenagers, 5 children and two dogs, an easy fit. LBF turned out to be a magical place, two very well maintained farmhouses in the middle of huge grounds. A pool with a view, a sauna, a fitness centre, a pool table, table tennis table, in short nothing left to be desired`.

The owners must be foodies like us, both kitchens are fitted out with new equipment, Le Creuset pans and even Nespresso machines. The vegetable garden was a delight, we made good use of it!

Breakfast on the new terrace of la Figue, dinner at the pool or on the terrace of La Chataigne. The children were building huts while we were lounging at the large pool. Nadine, the French caretaker, came daily for some cleaning and advise, she really knows all about the area.

And there is a lot to see and do: canoeing on the Dordogne, three nice golf courses within driving distance, castles, ruins and bastilles abound, don´t miss Monpazier...

Although the price is steep, we will be back next year.

La Borie du Four exceeded all of our expectations!

Dear Matthijs

A really big thank you from all of us!

From the time we booked the house in Villafrench there was a period of silence (no questions asked and no answers given)…. and I started to think subconsciously that the place maybe did not exist at all. Then I asked loads of questions and you were incredibly polite and efficient with your answers. In truth, we did not know what to expect, and as we drove along the roads towards our final destination, the children were playing a game of ‘who could spot the house first’ – and looking at properties in detail they were quick to say the sort of house they wanted La Borie Du Fours to be… in the end, when we did finally arrive the house exceeded all of our expectations. We loved the week there and especially the time we spent at the house… it was simply delightful.

I would like to say a big thank you from the whole party… and to also mention a couple of things I forgot to say in my farewell note… 1) We used the bread oven - and thoroughly enjoyed the experience… we cooked both Pizzas and a leg of lamb… both delicious… but would suggest you offer a little more detail in the stacking, lighting and control of the oven to guests in future (maybe a laminated sheet hung on the wall outside the oven itself… with hints and tips… and maybe even a known and favourite recipe?) And 2) Your - top 5 things to do and see – we did them all… with the one exception of the Farmers Market… we intended to go there on our last night, but instead favoured a meal out together – our children are really too young for a late night especially with the prospect of a 14 hour drive back the following day… so this was sadly missed… something we could one day return to perhaps.

Please feel free to use me as a reference or as an endorsement for your website… not that you would need to - as I feel anyone visiting there will want to return again the following year… so once again, many thanks for making our 2009 holiday very, very special.

A wonderful time at La Borie du Four

We had a wonderful time at La Borie du Four, the house was perfect for our families, from the youngest (11 months) to the oldest (82 years). We found it very convenient to have the two houses, as all the young parents and their children were together in one, and the oldies on the other. Also, the fact that there is no traffic near the property makes it quite safe for the kids, and it was one thing we didn't have to worry about.

Your house is convenient, well furnished and equipped, without losing its country charm and authenticity and simplicity. A very good balance indeed. Very nice area too, we had some marvelous and easy walks in the woods and fields around the property.

Thank you also for letting us take advantage of your vegetable garden, the babies enjoyed fresh peas and everybody had wonderfully fresh salads and raspberries. A real plus.

Nadine was very friendly and efficient, and we only have praise for her work. We were also fortunate to be able to call her one evening when the power went out, as one of the electric boards was somewhat hidden behind a bed upstairs, but she knew all about it !

So a tremendous success, it felt just like home as soon as we walked in, and we were sad to see our vacation end. We will certainly recommend your house to other people and, who knows, perhaps come another time in the future.
