Stadl holiday chalet: Paal, Stadl an der Mur

Local Restaurants: In village of Stadl (Chalet is 500 mts outside village) our favourite restaurant is the Mutalerhof Hotel - excellent food (Steaks to die for!) and very professional / friendly service. This is also a great source of local information / bike hire / white water rafting etc. etc. At St Lorenzen (entry point for ski lifts etc there are various good eateries and bars - our recommendation is the Micro Brewery (hearty food and great local beer!). High above St. Lorenzen, in the mountains, is a fantastic Italian owned restaurant 'Sylvano's'. If you're lucky - Sylvano will put on an impromptu guitar concert - very entertaining!

Local Train Service: The Murtalerbahn (nearest station in Stadl - 10 minute walk) is a local Mur Valley service - that can take you to the Ski Lifts or the local Golf Course, or shopping to local towns of Tamsweg, St Lorenzen or Murau.

Bike Riding: Local bike hire available ( 7 euros per day at September 2008) - absolutely sensational bike trail follows River Mur and local Murtalerbahn along its valley route.

Ski: Local Kreischberg ski region is excellent for both beginners and intermediates (10 minutes drive from chalet with new ski lift due in 2011 which will bring lifts to with 500 mts of Chalet!). More extensive and challenging ski areas within easy 30/40 minutes driving distance. No crowds / no lift queues / excellent snow and sunshine record and very reasonable lift passes and ski hire. Largely undiscovered by British skiers, this area is reasonably priced, friendly and beautiful! Hot tub is bliss after a long day skiing! Golf: Excellent local Golf Course (opened in 2006) - 10 minutes drive from Chalet near St. Lorenzen. Even more beautiful courses within 30 minutes driving time at Mariahof and St. Michael in Lungau. Special 'golf course group' discount cards available to cover 5 rounds at local and other areas (works out at 35 Euros per round as at September 2008). Radstadt GC is sensational and includes a ski lift for golf cart (and player!) at 12th hole - worth the 60 minute drive!! 2 mens RH sets of Clubs are available at the chalet for our guests free use.
