The apartment is south-facing, light and open with comfortable accommodation for up to 4 people. The double balcony has splendid views to the spectacular Diablerets glacier, the Dents du Midi mountain range, the towns of Villars and Aigle and the Rhone valley. In winter, it is a perfect location for skiing as Leysin is one of the premier (though yet not fully discovered) ski resorts in Switzerland with great facilities for skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and other winter sports. Spring, summer & winter are also great times to come - the views are spectacular and there is so much for all the family to do. The apartment is part of a group of units in a quiet area. The ski lifts, ski rental shops, sports centre and supermarket are about 7-10 minutes away on foot or 1 minute by car. It is possible to ski back to the apartment.

Leysin, situated in a premier Swiss wine-growing area, is one of the sunniest villages in Switzerland. There are impressive views of Lake Geneva and the Jura mountains, the Rhone Valley, Dents du Midi, the Diablerets Glacier, Mont Blanc, the Eiger and the Matterhorn. The village is at an altitude of 1250m with the cable cars reaching to the local skiing areas at 2300m. With various non-Swiss colleges, Leysin has a cosmopolitan air. Although it is part of French-speaking Switzerland, English is widely spoken. With a variety of winter sports and summer activities, including beautiful walks, it is a great holiday site throughout the year. Nearby are: Lake Geneva, Geneva, CERN, Montreux, Chateaux Chillon, Lausanne, France, Italy, Bex salt mines, Gstaad, Villars, Gruyère (medieval city, cheese factory), Broc chocolate factory, family leisure park, aquapark with beach & yachting, labyrinth, fairy grotto, Rhone valley, panoramic view.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Reservations held for 5 days waiting receipt of deposit. Security deposit of 25% on booking with remainder to be paid 8 weeks before arrival. For late bookings, full payment at time of booking. Refundable breakages deposit of £150 required to cover any cleaning required & possible damage, refundable within 2 weeks after letting. (Minor breakages will not be charged.) Cleaning charge of £25 for the first hour (normally sufficient) plus £25/hr for subsequent time if necessary.
  • Cancellation charges -
    57+ days before arrival date - 75% of rental returned.
    29-56 days before arrival date - 50% of rental returned.
    15-28 days before arrival date - 25% of rental returned.
    0-14 days before arrival date - 10% of rental returned.
    Payment - in Sterling, by bank transfer or Pay Pal. In Swiss francs to Swiss bank.
    A tourist tax is payable at Leysin Tourist office and entitles visitors to a generous discount on numerous sporting facilities in the local area including ski passes and lifts.
    Health & travel insurance, including cancellation cover, is strongly recommended.

Helpful local agent. Excellent location. 'Ski back to apartment block' is true. Apartment quite adequate, though sofa bed not as comfortable as user would have liked. Accommodation not luxurious, but certainly good value for money. Lovely village, uncrowded, even at weekend, but enough to do both day and evening.

great Swiss experience

This property was situated on the top of the mountain....Beautiful view and close to the ski hill. If you enjoy a place a little out of the way, it is great. It is easy to get to by train and has a free bus ride or 10 euro for a taxi to get to the chalet.
It has a really great little town with a grocery with decent prices. The chalet had everything we needed and it was a great place just to get away to.
I think that the train ride up the mountain was worth the stay in itself for the scenery. We were very pleased with our stay.
If you want to be close to Lausanne, etc. it might not be for you. Depending on what you are after.
The chalet itself was very comfortable and again, had a beautiful view. The communication to get there and so on was very good as well. We were made to feel very much at home.

If you wanted to ski either down hill or cross country, it is an amazing spot.
We received our deposit back within a few days as well.
This is also a good place to walk if you enjoy that, There is a lot of opportunity to walk and explore the area, which is a small and interesting place to explore.

First to rent this property. Excellent view of the snow covered mountain ranges (Winter). No-one overlooking the picture balcony windows. The local agents were very helpful and polite. Downhill walk to the Cable car. Property was supplied with all cleaning agents and laundered bedding. Everything to get you started.
