Leysin, situated in a premier Swiss wine-growing area, is one of the sunniest villages in Switzerland. There are impressive views of Lake Geneva and the Jura mountains, the Rhone Valley, Dents du Midi, the Diablerets Glacier, Mont Blanc, the Eiger and the Matterhorn. The village is at an altitude of 1250m with the cable cars reaching to the local skiing areas at 2300m.
With various non-Swiss colleges, Leysin has a cosmopolitan air. Although it is part of French-speaking Switzerland, English is widely spoken. With a variety of winter sports and summer activities, including beautiful walks, it is a great holiday site throughout the year.
Nearby are: Lake Geneva, Geneva, CERN, Montreux, Chateaux Chillon, Lausanne, France, Italy, Bex salt mines, Gstaad, Villars, Gruyère (medieval city, cheese factory), Broc chocolate factory, family leisure park, aquapark with beach & yachting, labyrinth, fairy grotto, Rhone valley, panoramic view.
