La Casetta is located on a medieval road in the historic centre of Modica, it has a full kitchen, eating area, sofa bed for extra guest, a 3 pcs bathroom with a shower, toilet, sink. Access to the upper floor (loft) is by a circular staircase, there you have a kingsize bed, knight tables, dressers...It is a very clean and centrally located property, nearby have supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, boutiques stores and lots of historic sites to see...Modica is famous for its chocolate; every year in March the Eurochoccolate expo is done here, hundreds of thousands of chocolate lovers come to enjoy its delicate flavors.

In March 2003 UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) has acknowledged that the city of Modica and its surrounding areas to be added to the WORLD HERITAGE LIST for the baroque treasures it holds in its historic buildings and architectural design unique only to this part of Sicily, Modica, built between two valleys and hills is known for its Baroque architecture, has restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and shops.Modica is also called the Positano of Sicily. The town of Modica was so particular until the middle of the last century that it was called the second Venice of Italy: it is situated on the valley where two torrents merge into each other and there were a lot of large and small bridges to connect the zones of the lower area. The town is shaped as a 'broken pomegranate', climbs up the ridges and reaches the top of the castle, happy image that Gesualdo Bufalino coined for Modica.

Fantastic apartment and town

My boyfriend and I rented this apartment for our summer break and it was perfect. Situated close to the town of Modica, where you are spoilt by the wonderful architecture, cafes and bars, the apartment was very comfortable and thoughtfully kitted out with everything you could need by the owner and offered at a very reasonable price. The hospitality and helpfulness of the owner and the local people was second to none. We would thoroughly recommend this apartment and we hope to come back to Modica - a town which stole our hearts!

wonderful stay at La casetta

We had a wonderful time there for a week or so.
Very kind and considerate owner Giorgio made our holiday really something special - a bottle of beutiful local wine and homemade dinner on arrival, and the upgrade to his magnificant villa up the road, only to start with.
Modica is really well situated to go to interesting places like Syracusa, Ragusa, Noto and to the beutiful beaches, all within an hour or so.
The apt is so close to town so you don't have to hire a car, but we hired one which was very helpful to look around the whole region more easily.
The locals around the apt were very friendly, so we got talking with some of the old ladies there(one of them called Giorgino is 85 yrs old) which was quite nice to have a bit of local contact despite difficulties of communication.
I would strongly recommend the la casetta to anybody, especially if they would like real taste of Sicilan people and culture.

A Wonderful Vacation

Modica is a wonderful, authentic Sicilian town that isn't overcrowded
with tourists. The La Casetta apartment is in a nice neighborhood
close to all the historic monuments. There's a supermarket nearby and
a great pizzeria, La Contea, within a five minute walk where we ate
almost every night. Luckily, the apartment is on one of the lower
streets, because Modica is perched on a couple of hills so you have to
go up and down lots of stairs while exploring the town. But at least
you won't gain any weight from all the chocolate and gelato that
you'll eat because you'll burn the calories during your walks...La
Casetta is a great deal for staying in Modica, from which you can also
visit the other great Baroque cities of Southern Sicily. Just don't
rely on the trains, they are often cancelled! We miss Modica
already...

A gem.

My husband and I spent a very happy week at the Casetta and loved it. It's comfortable, very well equipped and beautiful - the owners have really thought about how to make it a little gem.
It's also walking distance of all the bars and restaurants (and do go uphill as well as down - there are some lovely places to eat) but we didn't have any problem parking - and that can be a rarity in old towns!
And as well as the virtues of the apartment itself, a word about Giorgio and Antonella: they are really lovely people, not just helpful, but also genuinely welcoming, warm and friendly. We heartily recommend this property. Jackie and Mike.
