MAS PITRE is a family style bed and breakfast set in high mountains of Catalunya. It is only 1 km. from Besalú, 45 kms. from any point on the Costa Brava and just 1 hour away from the excellent ski slopes of Vallter 2000. From the large terrace in front of the house you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Pyrenees. Whilst enjoying a leisurely breakfast you can discover part of the Garrotxa and the Alt Empordà, from the clear view of the summit of Bassegoda to the snowy peaks of the mountains in winter. MAS PITRE is situated in the Garrotxa region, an area of outstanding natural beauty, ideal for walking, mountain biking and horse riding. Historic villages such as Besalú, with one of the best preserved collections of medieval buildings in Catalonia, are also well worth a visit for their artistic and historical value, along with Castellfollit de la Roca and Beget.

Horseriding: Horseriding Mas Pitre is a farmhouse that is situated on 10 Ha. of land. On the fields of the house, 10 horses are kept. We have some young horses but also several ones that can be ridden. There are 20 stables available and a big arena. We started to do Natural Horsemanship clinics with Adam Shereston (read more on the news page). We don´t offer the opportunity to ride our horses outside, but there are lots of possibilities nearby to go horseriding in the mountains.

Mountainbiking and walking: Lots of activities can be done like walking, climbing, horse trekking, and swimming The highlight is probably the network of beautiful 16th-17th century villages which are almost perfectly preserved and ooze local Catalan charm and hospitality. Restaurants all serve local Catalan cuisine, which is very good and not very expensive. The Catalonia nature offers lots of beautiful places to visit on foot or by bike

Bow and arrow shooting: The bow and arrow club Sherwood Spirit from Gerona has been located at Mas Pitre since 2007. They have a 3-D court in the woods of Mas Pitre. It’s possible to get instruction or shoot some arrows yourself. Afterwards we can arrange a barbeque

Ski: In winter you can go to the mountains (one hour drive) to sky

Golf: Many golfresorts are situated nearby and the wheater makes it possible to golf all year around

We stayed with two families in Mas Pitre with 9 kids (!). It is an excellent place for these numbers of peope as there is a weath of space, a large amount of private places and each room has its own bathroom. But the social areas can also easily cope with these sort of numbers, as can the swimmingpool close to the house. The little vilages in the area are excelent for an evening stroll, a wine and a dine. If any problems would arise, Jeanine will be a super host and will help you out. All in all a place to come back to.

For a long weekend

A group of 15 of us stayed at the 'Mas Pitre' farmhouse for a recent summer long weekend. The villa was easy to find and the pool, accommodation, BBQ area and surrounding grounds were kept in great condition.

We had a group who wanted to take part in different activities, and Jeanine - the owner of the villa - was very obliging in organising something to please all.

Local villages were beautiful, and it turned out to be a perfect area for running, biking and climbing.
