Chamonix Centre flat within 50m of the Aiguille du Midi cable car. The flat is convenient, cheap, budget and value for money in central Chamonix. Situated in the Chamonix Sud ski complex with its bars, resturants and main bus stop with free bus access to all the ski lifts. Within two minute walk of the old centre of Chamonix and the main train and bus station. Chamonix old centre has a museum, tourist office statues and Chamonix town hall (Mairie). Chamonix is the Alpine mountaineering and climbing capital with access to the climb to the roof of Europe which is Mont Blanc 4810m and it is the start of the famous trek Tour du Mont Blanc which is a trekking circuit around Mont Blanc. As the town is at over 1000m there is good snow in both early (December) and late (until May) season. This flat is also available throughout the summer from June to the end of September. Prices are from £200 per flat per week for summer stays and from £300 per flat per week for winter stays.

  • The apartment is arranged over two floors, with the main bedroom being upstairs on a separate mezzanine floor. This floor is accessed by some steep wooden stairs, and there is no door, but it is private and has its own sky light window. This upstairs room has storage cupboards, a double bed and a single bed, with bedding provided. The area downstairs is the entrance to the flat with a lounge area, kitchenette, private bathroom and access to the large balcony. There is a double futon bed which folds into a comfortable double bed. Bedding is provided. There is an electric heater both in the upstairs bedroom and in the downstairs area.

Ski Details: The apartment is conveniently located close to the centre of town and within 50m of the main ski bus that give access to all the ski lifts. Chamonix is famous for its challenging black ski runs and off piste skiing and ski touring. There are also options for families and plenty to do for apres ski with museums, an adventure park and swimming pool / leisure centre.

Climbing details: Chamonix is the Alpine capital for mountaineering and climbing with indoor and outdoor climbing walls. It gives access to climb Mont Blanc which is the highest peak in the Alps. We offer a range of guided mountaineering and climbing courses from a day experiencing a walk on a glacier to a week climbing the Matterhorn.

Holiday & Sightseeing activties: Chamonix is great for sightseeing as it has the highest cable car in Europe, the Aiguille du Midi, which goes up to 3842m with fantastic views of Mont Blanc and the mountains. There is also a railway to the glacier viewpoint and loads of walks and treks for all abilities. For children there is a rope adventure park and summer luge. Its a great place for a holiday and in June it is usually sunny and hot with temperatures often reaching 30 degrees.

Other Activities: Climbing, rock and ice climbing, glacier trekking, hiking, walking, skiing and cross country skiing.

Convenient flat for Chamonix

This flat was great as it was really central and convenient within easy walking distance of everything.

As it was on one of the highest floors in the building and has double glazing there wasn't much noise. It is a smallish flat but if you keep to the recommended number of people its fine (three of us stayed there) and there is good storage.

Fantastic views of Mont Blanc and the glaciers and restaurants and bars really close. There is Guiness in the nearest bar!

I would recommend this flat to anyone who wants to be really close to everything but isn't bothered about too much poshness. The kitchenette is practical and ok, and the bathroom had unlimited hot water from the boiler for the block which was great when we all came back and wanted a shower before going out.

The owners provided excellent service as met us and showed us in and were on call throughout the stay. The bedding and towels were good quality. They also included the car park key for free parking which was great.

If you want cheap and cheerful and convenient, this flat is for you.

Icicle Ski-Pod apartments in Chamonix

I stayed with these guys last winter and during the summer, and they were great. The key thing that impressed me was the can do attitude, and they were flexible with dates and arrival times.

The apartments I stayed in (I think they have about 8 in total) were simple and clean. Really centrally located, and I mean that - literally the Midi cable car is 100m away!

There is an office where you pick the keys up from, and the staff in there were really knowledgeable. Sarah runs the office and had been in Chamonix for over 10 years. They didn't mind me popping by most days to check out the conditions and which lifts were opening. This service really added to our holidays.

Anyway, back to the flats. The photos and descriptions are very honest, and you won't be disappointed. Windsor Castle they are not, but they are clean, well priced and decently kitted out. What more can you ask for?

Some people may be especially attracted to the flats because Icicle is a guiding outfit, and so they can also arrange guides for the Vallee Blanche, off piste, avalanche skills, snowshoeing, heliskiing etc. Mont Blanc and trekking in the summer too.

I'd definately recommend them to anyone, and will be back for another stay this winter if the snow keeps falling.
