Burgau Beach and Coast:
Casa Praia is one of the closest cottages to the beach. Burgau beach is ideal for all ages with wonderful sand,clear seas and rock pools to explore and sand castles waiting to be built.In high season the beach is patrolled by life guards who also hire shades and loungers .There is a renowned beach bar serving day time meals, snacks and drinks; toilet facilities are available.Walk the cliff path to Luz and see stunning sea views ,stop and have a drink and or snack and the return either by the same path or catch the local bus back to Buragu
The West coast offers some of the best surfing beaches in the world and tuition is available on most. Hiking,horse riding, jeep safari, mountain biking and golf are available throughout the area.
For those who enjoy Motor racing then 20mins away is the Autodromo circuit voted the finest moter racing venue in Europe.( www.autodromo.co.pt )Golf is available at 4 courses all within 10 klms.The marina in Lagos is where you can book trips to see dolphins
Shopping and eating out:
Burgau has two small supermarkets but there are larger supermarkets catering for all needs including fresh meat and fish, within 5 km.
The restaurants in Burgau offer an excellent choice of local and international dishes. These establishments are naturally busy during July and August so booking in advance is advised. Please note not all accept Credit Cards.
There are also various bars and cafes.
Should you wish for more night life and hustle and bustle then a short trip into the historic town of Lagos is recommended.
Places to Visit:
Sarges, the most westerly village in Europe and as such was on the edge of the known world right upto the late Middle Ages. Also found here is Henry the Navigator's 'school of navigation' and the famous light house on the point of Cape St. Vincent.
Silves is a Moorish town well worth a visit to see the castle and wander the tiny streets.

Golf:
Golf is available in the area at one of 4 courses. Boavista 8 kms , Parque da Floresta 8kms Espiche 4kms and Palmares 15 kms . All these courses have web sites and pre booking may reduce green fees.Early morning golf is cheaper and avoids the mid day heat. Buggies are available on all the courses.There are twight prices can be found either by looking at the web sites or in publications when you arrive.
