Tropea is located in Peloponnese, 250 km from Athens in the county of Arcadia, in Gortynia region. Tropea is within driving distance from Lagadia, Dimitsana, Stemnitsa, Alonistaina and Vytina villages, the last being next to Mount Mainalo and a very popular ski resort. Tropea is also conveniently located close to the ancient site of Olympia, the birthplace to the Olympic Games and the home of the Olympic Flame. There are several tavernas that visitors could indulge in Tropea (at the park), in Stavrodromi (village before Tropea), in Kaliani village (local trout farm, open only during the summer period) as well as the local tavernas in Lagadia, Dimitsana, Stemnitsa and Vytina. One can find in Tropea fresh bread and other delicious bakery goods made daily by the local bakery 'fournos' and a variety of other products necessary for a pleasant stay.

Olympia's ancient site and museum: Olympia is the birthplace to the Olympic Games, and the home of the Olympic Flame only 32 Km from Tropea, heading southwest on E55. The whole region of Olympia is filled with immense history and beauty, and it is not difficult to imagine the atmosphere of the ancient games all those many years ago. With the museum exhibiting a selection of findings from the area, Olympia truly is one of the most interesting and educational sites you will find in Ilia county and the Peloponnese.
