Spacious farmhouse set in a tranquil hamlet and renovated to a high standard for 2009.This luxurious family home boasts a large enclosed garden of almost 2 acres secured by electric gates and operated by remote control. This makes the garden secure for small children. The downstairs accommodation consists of a large hallway with toilet and tiled shower room off. This hallway leads to the large country style dining room complete with 8 seater table and wood burning stove. Then into the comfortable living area with two leather reclining settees in front of a massive open log fire just right for a cosy night watching a DVD or sky or French TV. Off this room there is a good sized well equipped kitchen with fridge freezer and large 5 burner oven. There is a utility room which houses a washing machine. Upstairs there are four well presented bedrooms which have a lovely French feel, complete with Egyptian cotton bedding and towels. The bathroom has a white luxury roll tap bath

The farmhouse stands 25 minutes away from Limoges airport and city. The gorgeous town of Bessines Sur Gartempe is 5 minutes away where you can go to the little cafe and try out your French.(And have a cup of coffee of course) ! And not a double yellow line in sight.Here you will find Lac SAGNAC with its man made beach and picnic area. If you love history then Oradour sur Glane,being a martyred village, is well worth a visit. Lake St Pardoux with its three beaches is only 15 kms away with free parking for the day.It is a lovely swimming lake with manmade beaches and grassy picnic area,cafe and various water sports .There are biking and walking trails around the lake. In the village of St Pardoux there is a good fishing lake for the serious fisherman with equipment for hire For the spiritually minded there is a dolmen up a little track at the side of the house,this is a megalithic site and is a magical spot for meditation.   • The downstairs shower room is very spacious and has a lovely French classic feel to it. With traditional floor and wall tiles and spacious shower enclosure. The upstairs bathroom has a luxurious white roll top bath just right for relaxing in with a glass of wine or two,after a hard days sightseeing. This is a very warm room with white wooden walls and warm wooden floor.

Notes: If you holiday in this home from home I know you wont be disappointed. It is French living at its best. There are DVDs, Board games, music CDs and a full size pool table. There is a DVD div x player, satellite TV and French TV. Outside there is lots of room for ball games or maybe the children could take a little picnic into the meadow behind the house. Most days a herd of local Limousin cattle pass the house to be milked. They walk down the track in front of the house, but don't worry if you don't like cows unless they are on your dinner plate There is a secure wall and gates between you and them so you can watch them but don't have to make contact. This gives you the feeling of being in the middle of rural life. Just how it used to be in England. Relax outside whilst eating your lunch on the 8 seater table and chairs complete with parasol. We have four bikes that we can lend to you and one baby trailer if you want to see the country side by bike.The roads are very quiet.

A real family treat

To be honest we’re normally beach bunnies but this year we decided to try something a bit different and I’m so glad we did. We had such a lovely time . The house is so comfortable ( especially the bed ) and well equipped that it’s a joy and the surrounding countryside, especially at this time of the year was just wonderful . On our walks we were surrounded by meadows of wild flowers reminding us of how it used to be in England when we were kids. We even ventured out on the bikes provided ( prompting me to get much fitter for next year ) along the quiet country lanes. Come the evening I was so shattered that after a long soak in the bath Hubby lit the wood fire and we played scrabble and Mastermind. ( He won! )
Sitting outside drinking a glass of wine in the warm evenings we realised that we had forgotten what a night sky without light pollution looked like. Awe inspiring ! So many stars and so peaceful .
As you can guess I like to think I’m a bit spiritual so a trip to the dolmen just a few yards along the lane outside the house was a must for us . Even usually sceptical Hubby was impressed. It’s truly magical and incredibly, considering that it was built thousands of years before Christ , it remains in good condition. I tried a bit of meditation ….the only disturbance being the birds singing….. and the sly sniggers of Hubby .
On the Sunday we went to the local market where hundreds of stores were selling everything you could think of from furniture to vintage clothes and lace . I couldn’t resist the lace and got myself a real bargain. Afterwards we spent a couple of hours drinking coffee in the sun and just watching the world go by.
We had such a lovely time and I want to thank you . I’m booking again and next time we’re taking the son, his wife and the grandchildren. I’m so looking forward to a real family holiday! The hot sweaty beaches are a thing of the past from now on and I thoroughly recommend this holiday .

Our family holiday

We visited this holiday home earlier this year with my family and a friend. In all, there were eight of us including teenagers and a couple of pensioners (us) Every one of us had an excellent holiday in this beautiful house. The boys were able to make use of the bikes and discovered places off the beaten track and loved the pool table. The six year old was happy in the massive garden with the swing and slide and the rest of us lazed around on the reclining sun chairs in the garden. Everything was provided to cater for us all, there were games, books, cds, even an ipod dock, there has been so much thought gone into this letting. The house is immaculate with quality furniture and bedding, I just cannot praise it enough and we've already booked up for next year for another peaceful holiday away from the crowds, I can't wait!

Superbe!

We went in search of peace and tranquillity…and found them at this delightful farmhouse.
Previous reviews have already described very accurately the superb accommodation, its relaxing ambiance and rural aspect. To this we would add the added delight of an open fire in the evening (which I made sure was my job-it must be a man’s thing!), which added a cosy warmth to the oak beams and terra cotta tiles.
There were lots to do in and around this well equipped house, making this an ideal family retreat.
Cheap air fairs are an added bonus (but do plan well in advance) and we would, without question, add our recommendation.

Ideal getaway

The farmhouse and the grounds are spacious, comfortable and well maintained. Set in rural surroundings it is very peaceful and an ideal place to 'get away from it all'. Within easy travelling distance to Limoges and a good base for exploring this lovely area. We enjoyed an excellent 5 days and can highly recommend this property. Thanks again Linda and Phil!

An idyllic weekend in a beautiful country house

My friends and I had a romantic vision of spending 4 days in a quiet country house in the heart of France, enjoying the country side by day and plenty of french wine around a big fire at night- and that is exactly what we had!

The house is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The bedrooms are all furnished really well, and the beds are so comfortable it was hard to get out of them! Most nights we spent cuddled up with blankets on the lovely comfortable sofa's in front a huge fire, it was home away from home. The kitchen is really well equipped which meant we could cook anything we liked. The 4 bikes were a definite plus- we loved getting out and exploring the countryside and neighbouring villages.

The instructions given to us by the owners were really helpful- considering none of us were very experienced in driving abroad we found the house really easily. There are a number of attractions in the area which we visited, including Limoges city centre and Oradour. I would definitely recommend this house to others, and I know we are all planning on returning to this house either all together or with our families.
