Relaxing, rural, friendly holiday in the sun!

For the past few years we have been looking to visit Croatia after hearing from others how beautiful a country it is. This year, with cheap flights from Stanstead and Birmingham to Pula or Trieste in Italy we were able to go.
Istria, as we found out, has lots to see and do and nowhere seems very far to get to, especially on the quiet Croatian roads. During our stay we were able to visit Pula, Rovinj, Motovun, Porec and lots of other beautiful little towns with winding cobbled streets and fairytale architecture.
Our stay was made really special by the warm welcome we recieved from our hosts, Sue and Nigel, who have been living the peaceful Istrian life for quite a few years. They could not have been more friendly and welcoming - to the point of taking us to the local butchers to get the best cuts of meat for a BBQ over their wood burning stove. It was also extremely useful to have local information; from best beaches and sights to visit through to the local language and currency at easy reach from people who live in Croatia all the time.
Kod Thereza itself is a lovely, clean and recently renovated build which has all the amenities a family of six would need. The pictures I had seen on the website did not do justice to the peaceful, sunny location we found ourselves in. Every night we were able to watch a friendly local resident walk his few sheep past our accomadation, waving and smiling as he went past, or watch a visiting hedgehog scurrying across the road - all to the amusement of our children. In the mid day sun the pool in the back garden provided endless hours of entertainment for the children and was perfect after a long day sightseeing.
Sue and Nigel make your holiday what you want it to be. They will provide as much or as little help as you need and do not impose themselves upon you yet are there to share their stories and time in Istria as and when you want it - something very unique.
Istria is a perfect holiday destination for so many reasons. Croatia is a lovely, welcoming and unspoilt country with a feel good climate and so much to see and do within, at the most, an hours drive. From the family entertainment of 'Glavani Park' - a rope park with zip wires and high ropes to climb, swing and balance on - to the clear waters of the coast and the pretty little towns there was such a lot to keep us all busy. We will definately be returning to Isria again and would be hard pushed to beat the hospitality we found at Kod Thereza.

Owner's Response: Thanks to the family for their lovely review. We really enjoyed helping them make the most of what the real Istria has to offer. It is satisfying to see people genuinely appreciating what we have been enjoying for over 8 years now. The whole area is still relatively unspoiled - from ancient towns such as Pula and Rovinj to the clean not too crowded beaches - and the Istrian people really are open, friendly and generous. It is why we choose to live here and why we enjoy showing it off to visitors. I am sure that this family will be back to istria and hope that they choose to come to us again. We will keep the beers cool and the pool warm.
