Old Bank House is a delightful property in the rural Lakeland village of Cark-in-Cartmel. It is a charming and luxurious detached 6 bedroomed period house, with many original features and characteristics. Outside is a very attractive, enclosed garden with a sheltered area for barbequing covered in clematis and honeysuckle. Steps lead to a raised patio area with a stone seat. The ground floor accommodation includes: entrance hall/lounge (we use it as a children's downstairs lounge as it has the TV and video in), breakfast room, brand new kitchen, pantry, toilet, lounge with an open fire and beautiful dining room with a flag stone floor, deep inglenook fireplace and windowseat. It also has one further room which leads to the garden. We use it as a cloakroom for coats and shoes and as a drying room for wet gear. On the first floor there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms whilst on the second floor there are two further bedrooms one of which doubles as a large playroom

Old Bank House is set in the welcoming, unspoilt village of Cark in Cartmel on the Cartmel peninsula, an area famous for its rugged unspoilt coastal countryside, abundant wildlife and glorious racecourse. It is situated quarter of a mile from Holker Hall, and just a few miles from Windermere, Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall, Coniston Water and the delights of the Lake District National Park. There are many beautiful footpaths and bridleways for walking and riding and indeed the Cumbrian Coastal Way passes through the village. The village boasts two pubs, both of which provide good food and beer, a post office, a convenience store and a station which serves many easy day trip destinations along the picturesque coast. The 12th Century village of Cartmel, lies just over a mile away and boasts an additional four pubs, one of the country's best gastro restaurants and ancient cobbled streets. For wildlife enthusiasts, nearby Morecambe Bay is a popular destination for birdwatchers.

We had a fantastic time at Old Bank House (7th to 10th of August 2009) and the facilities were excellent. The house was lovely and clean, and there was plenty of room even for the 11 of us. The kitchen was well equipped and set up to cater for large groups if required, and the bedrooms were all really clean, comfortable and well decorated. The outside area and funiture was perfect for a barbeque too (we had a rare moment of English sunshine on the Saturday evening) so all in all we couldn't have asked for more. We'll definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Family ranging from 2 years to 64 years enjoyed a long weekend in Old Bank House.

Playroom at the top of the house is great for the kids, two living rooms so the adults can watch tv while the teenagers play on the playstation. Bedrooms are comfortable. Nice garden area though watch the steep steps. Couple of nice pubs nearby.

Is on the corner of the main road through the village, not to noisy but be careful with younger children running into road. Could possibly do with a bit of decorating to get rid of the old fashioned busy wallpaper.

Overall, we had a good break and would consider using again.

A very comfortable family home, perfect for a get together. In a great location with enjoyable walks and plenty of places see nearby as well as a great choice of local pubs and restaurants. Had a wonderful weekend with the family to celebrate my 40th birthday and am looking forward to returning again soon.

Fantastic house in a great location for visiting the Lake District. Local amenities are good. We kayaked on Consiton Water and enjoyed great walks. The house is most cosy, extremely clean, beautifully decorated and extremely spacious. Would certainly recommend. Great for families. Will most certainly re visit.

We had such a lovely time during our stay at Old Bank House. The house is so well equiped and was a fantastic place for a new years break. The village setting was lovely and we all felt very well looked after.
