Lake Geneva - Evian - A truly all season location, in Winter, 20 minutes from nearest skiing, 35-40 minutes from Morzine/Avoriaz for the more adventurous skier. In Summer, Royal Evian Golf Course is a 2 mins drive. Beautiful lake side beaches, boat trips on the lake and of course the Jazz Festival every year in Montreux. Geneva 45 mins. Lausanne 30 mins by boat across the lake. Amazing drives into the mountains on both the French side and the Swiss side of the lake. Many spa's, natural thermal baths close by. Italy about an hour drive. Evian has a wonderful casino in town as well as the many shops, bars and restaurants which offer a friendly atmosphere and great food and wine. In the house you will find DVD, Satellite TV, Computer games, Books, Board Games, Pinball machine and everything has been recently renovated to a high standard.

Outside - Heated swimming pool with jacuzzi. Plenty of outside furniture, sun loungers etc. Outside and inside BBQ. About 1/2 acre of garden space with amazing lake views. Coast/Beach - 2 minute drive down to the lake and lake side beaches. Golf - Royal Park Evian (Ladies PGA tour course) - 2 minute drive. Skiing - Thollon - 8kms (closest). Bernex - 20 mins. Morzine/Avoriaz - 35-40 minutes by car. Special interest holidays. Private boat trips on the lake can be arranged on Laurents boat moored in the Port of Evian. Car rental can be arranged if needed. Travel - Geneva Airport about 55min. Distances - Geneva - 40 minutes. Lausanne - 30 minutes (by boat). Montreux - 45 minutes (car or boat). Yviore - 30 minutes. Further details - Private boat trips on the lake can be arranged on Laurents boat moored in the Port of Evian (water skiing, swimming from the boat or just perhaps a trip to the many restaurants or towns, shopping trips across the lake to Lausanne are popular).

Family Holiday in Evian

We were delighted when we arrived in Evian to the house - the photos can't possibly do the property justice as the standard of the accommodation was superb. The house has been beautifully restored to it's former glory and was immaculately clean and there were little homely touches all around the property which made it feel warm and comfortable and like a home from home. The children made the loft area (with it's own sofas and TV) their 'chill out' space in the evening where they could relax with a movie. And sometimes we joined them to - you felt a million miles away from everyone else.

The views from the garden over Lake Geneva were breathtaking and many evenings were spent on the decked area in front of the pool looking over at Switzerland.

Our children were in their element with the pool and the Jacuzzi was an instant hit with them, us and my in-laws!! There were even inflatables to play with in the pool which meant we didn't need to spend additional money on toys that we would not be able to take home!! The gardens provided lots of opportunity for the children to run around, play with the football and quite a few games of hide and seek and were immaculately maintained.

We visited Switzerland across Lake Geneva which was a lovely day trip and went up into the mountains behind Evian. We also visited Morzine which was about 30 minutes away which is a great ski resort in winter and found other areas for skiing 15 minutes from the property which will be perfect for the children.

Although we're slightly limited because of our young family, we would love in future to return and make use of the many cycling routes and rafting trips you could enjoy.

For our family this was a holiday that suited the oldest member (67) to the youngest member (12months) and everyone in between.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this property - in fact we liked it so much we're booked to return for Christmas this year.

The perfect holiday

My husband wanted to yomp in the alps; I wanted a villa with a pool. This beautiful house kept us both happy - and in fact he really got into chilling by the pool with a beer and the views of Lake Geneva, and I enjoyed (?) running up and down the unfeasibly steep hills that make up Evian-les-Bains.(You need either a car or a very strong pair of legs even to get to the nearest Boulangerie! ) The kids were completely happy with pool, jaccuzzi, and wonderful attic techno-playroom. This is a good base for trips, particularly by boat across the lake to Lausanne, Montreaux and Chateau Chillon, the best castle we've ever visited (and we have visited a lot!)
Although we had a few unlucky glitches with plumbing and pool, the rental agency were magnificent - courteous, friendly and very efficient, so that no problem became an issue. Voted our best holiday for years - we've promised the kids that we will go back.

Summer Holiday in Evian

There is actually little to add to the previous reviews, spending time in this property really is a delight. Lovely interior and amazing outdoor space. As weather conditions were ideal, we spent most time outside the house and enjoyed the pool(s) and the large table with benches just in front of the entrance.
Three little kids (1-3 years old) and the adults as well loved the pool and the large garden space. No security concerns for the kids as pool cover is available (we were a little worried before we came there but a cover is actually compulsory in France).
The only drawback of the house: You have to force yourself to leave the property and see other things, it's just too nice to spend time there!

Christmas was idyllic, and Evian water was on tap

Our extended family spent Christmas here last year and it was better than we had hoped for. Everything with one exception worked perfectly, the only slight problem being the fireplace, which was being fixed as we left. The location gives a panoramic view over the north side of the lake where the Swiss towns bask in the intense light that falls in afternoons.
We would definitely recommend the house for a holiday, perfect for sharing three/four families and children, for example. The large living and dining areas are very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Shopping in town is about 7 mins drive away and there is a pattisierie in the village about a mile away which was really useful. Several serious restaurants are within a short drive.
We will definitely visit again and would like to try a summer holiday there as well.
The management staff from the local agent were helpful and accessible if needed. Ask for a map to help find it first time if you are driving directly there.
Highly recommended indeed, and much care has been put into the project, with design and materials selected thoughtfully, capturing the original charm of the house, retaining its history but providing a modern comfort level.

Evian - Skiing in Jan in Avoriaz

First time in Evian for many years as we decided to use it as a base for our skiing in Morzine and Avoriaz. The journey was about 40 minutes which although might seem a long time, it was so nice to get back to the big house rather been cooped up in the usual tiny ski resort rooms at a hotel or a cramped apartment. The house was lovely, very big and plenty of room for the 10 of us, and despite being an old house, it has been renovated to a really nice standard and everything was clean, warm and working perfectly. Unfortunately we didn't get to use the pool or jacuzzi as they were closed due to the winter but we have every intention of coming back in the summer to enjoy the house and the surrounding area, which despite the euro, still works out a lot cheaper than a hotel.
