Faja da Ovelha, a small agricultural village close to the town of Calheta with the only white sandy beach on Madeira. The village is named after a landslide (Faja) after which the sheep (Ovelha) took over land to graze. Nowadays sheep are are a rare sighting on the island. Most cattle can be found in the mountains, where cows peacefully and freely walk on the high plateau of Paul da Serra.
From the property you have a stunning sea and mountain view. The houses are set in a rural area which is very tranquil and peaceful. The sunset can be admired from the houses all year around, truly a never boring sight. From the houses one can explore the island along its levadas, the irrigation canals of which Madeira is very famous. There is always a levada meeting your standard, from easy going to very extreme.
