Photos and Description of this Calheta holiday house Luxurious self-catering house with breathtaking seaview in tranquil village.

Situated at the sunny south-west side of the island at about 400 meter altitude just outside the tranquil village of Fajã da Ovelha we have 2 houses to offer. The houses have a free sea view of 180 degrees. Several different levada walks can be exploited from the houses. The finishing is of a very high standard and everything is available for self-catering customers.

Newly built in 2008 and modernly furnished. Casa Maracujá has a spacious living with sliding glass doors overlooking the Atlantic. The dining area, which seats 6, is next to the open plan kitchen with is equipped with a ceramic cooker, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffeemaker, watercooker etc. The luxurious bathroom has a bath/shower, bidet, toilet, sink and hairdryer. The 2 separate bedrooms with an amazing view over the Atlantic as well have top quality beds of 90x200 cm which ensure a good night sleep. The built-in cupboards are spacious. One bedroom is on the bottom floor with a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. On the private terrace and balcony you will find sunbeds, a BBQ and a table with chairs to enjoy the lovely sub-tropical climate. The nearest (pebble) beach is just 3 km away and to the new marina, the only sand beach on Madeira and a well stocked supermarket the town of Calheta is within a 10 minute drive. Bedlinen will be changed once a week. Towels twice a week.

Faja da Ovelha, a small agricultural village close to the town of Calheta with the only white sandy beach on Madeira. The village is named after a landslide (Faja) after which the sheep (Ovelha) took over land to graze. Nowadays sheep are are a rare sighting on the island. Most cattle can be found in the mountains, where cows peacefully and freely walk on the high plateau of Paul da Serra. From the property you have a stunning sea and mountain view. The houses are set in a rural area which is very tranquil and peaceful. The sunset can be admired from the houses all year around, truly a never boring sight. From the houses one can explore the island along its levadas, the irrigation canals of which Madeira is very famous. There is always a levada meeting your standard, from easy going to very extreme.

Thank you for a wonderful stay at your holidayhouse. The house is well-equiped and has a breathtaking view on the ocean. It is a very quiet and low traffic location. We can recommend this place to everyone who would like to see one of the most beautiful islands in the world, at least in our opinion. Just go there and see it yourself !
