An independent barn approximately 200m2, within the grounds, has just been renovated to a very high standard and is available as a spacious self catering holiday home. It comprises of 3 double bedrooms, two separate shower rooms,very large cosy living room, luxury granite finished kitchen dining room for those who love to cook and a large covered veranda with views of the Pyrenées all very romantic and breath taking. Full use of swimming pool for those who like to laze and tan set in a wonderful mature garden.

Close to the Pyrenees, the small village of Bonnefont can be found in the tranquil River Baïse valley and is surrounded by farmland and wooded hillsides. Our nearest towns are Trie-sur-Baïse (8kms) and Lannemezan (20kms). Tarbes is our nearest commercial town (30kms) but Lourdes(45kms) and Pau (55kms) are very accessible.

Cycling (Road & MTB): The Hautes Pyrenees region of France has a superb network of minor roads and minimal traffic outside the towns and off the major routes. The range of landscapes is immense from leafy and domestic to glacier topped high mountains. The routes that you will have access to from La Joie de Vivre are unashamedly rural,fantastic for all cyclis with the Tour very near as are all the Col's to cycle Ryan Air to Pau. Flyb to Tolouse easyjet to Toulouse. Tour de France 2009

Walking: Walking in the stunning mountain scenery of the French Pyrenees can be accessed easily from La Joie de Vivre, with the highlights being glacial lakes and waterfalls, peaks and high ridges and many varied flowers and wildlife with some extremely pretty villages known as 'bastides' nestled amongst the mountains. Several of the most beautiful walks are found within the Parc National des Pyrenees

Brilliant break

I can find nothing negative to say about our stay. The barn is exactly as Liz and Rob describe it, furnished and appointed to a very high standard in a beautiful and quiet location with views of the mountains. My son and his girlfriend are in their early twenties and found plenty to do with the use of the swimming pool and trips to the mountains and towns in the area. I found walking and cycling locally was great on empty roads with abundant wildlife of all kinds. Liz and Rob are terrific hosts, relaxed, easy to talk to and will advise you on all aspects of your holiday – where to eat, places of interest to visit, cycle and walking routes etc. I can’t imagine anyone of any age not enjoying a stay at La Joie de Vivre.

Time of my life

Myself and friends stayed in the renovated barn and it was nothing short of beautiful. The standard that the barn had been renovated to was excellent and it was very modern with more than enough space to cater for 5 adults and a teenager. All the mod-cons were in place and everything you needed had been thoughtfully left, no matter what age or gender you were - from books to dvd's to iPod dockers....the list goes on!
The accommodation was immaculate upon arrival and the hosts, Liz and Rob could not have been more welcoming and this continued througout the holiday.
The icing on the cake was the grounds - so tranquil and rural and the pool provided the finishing touch.
All in all this was the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday I have ever been on (and I have been on plenty) and it has convinced me to never go on a "package" holiday again as you get the full package at La Joie de Vivre. I would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation to friends or family in the future and can't wait to return myself one day.

Simply...Perfect

We'd love to call this our home! Perfect in every way. Our family enjoyed staying in this lovely villa. One of a few villas that we could recommend. It's like your home away from home. The perfect hosts, Liz and Rob, not to forget their 2 mascots Tom & Josh, made our stay all the more so pleasant. We stayed and enjoyed the villa and it's surrounding scenery. Highly recommended for nature lovers and if you're into trekking and biking. Oh yes, if you have kids, this is the right place to stay. Although we came during spring time, we made good use of the huge pool. Many thanks to Liz and Rob for their hospitality. Thanks to Tom and Josh for making our mornings always sunny. Perfect holiday destination

We visited La Joie de Vivre in August 2009.
We had high expectations after seeing the pictures on the website, but they were far exceeded in reality. We were delighted with the setting, the facilites were second to none, the quality and cleanliness absolutely faultless.
The pool was just perfect for lounging around, whilst the loan of mountain bikes was an added bonus (for some).
The hosts managed to strike the perfect balance, being attentative without being intrusive - and the delivery of fresh bread each morning was the icing on the cake! An idyllic holiday in all respects and one I would neither hesitate to book again or highly reccommend!

Short but extremely sweet!

Arriving in BonneFont via an extremely circuitous route from Pau, the owners made us very welcome immediately & made us feel entirely at home. They took trouble to show us around the barn & pointed out all that we would need to know about the property to get the maximum benefit from the facilities. The description of the property is certainly a little modest as regards the level of comfort. We were all certainly impressed with the standard & cleanliness of the accommodation. In fact the kitchen was better equipped than our kitchens back home! Clearly Bob & Liz have put a great deal of themselves in to this property.
Our hosts could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable & if you are extremely nice to them they will even come & join you for the odd BBQ.
Highlight of our stay was possibly Sunday lunch in a local Auberge. We would definitely not have found this without the local knowledge of Bob & Liz. The same can be said for their suggestion that we should visit the Pont D'Espagne & surrounds. Fantastic scenery all within a reasonable driving distance. The boys also enjoyed a sortie to watch a local rugby match with Bob. Not to be outdone Liz kindly invited us girls in to the 'big' house to watch Strictly Come Dancing - clearly nothing is too much trouble!
The benefit of the pool was somewhat diminished by the time of year but just to be able to relax & doze in such peaceful surroundings was wonderful. Suffice it to say that the water temperature in October meant that swims were short & sharp!
The large grounds really add to the ambience & are well maintained & the garden staff extremely quiet & courteous.Even Tom & Josh the dogs provide entertainment.
We would certainly recommend this property to our friends - in fact we did & we will!!
