Other options:
Apart from the parks, for which Orlando is famous, is a world of other activities.
And you don’t have to travel far to enjoy the other delights of Florida whilst using your luxury accommodation at Caribe Cove as a base.
As Kissimmee is positioned roughly in the middle of the East and West coasts of Florida it is an ideal place to stay and seek out other sights in all directions. My husband and I have been to some of the less obvious places locally.
For example, on a recent stay, we were told about a little town on the East coast called Ponce Inlet. This is a beautiful little town boasting an old lighthouse and lighthouse keepers accommodations which has now been turned into a museum. Unfortunately, we arrived just before 5 o’clock in the evening having stopped off for a long leisurely lunch at a restaurant called Racing’s North Turn (the most fabulous fish I have ever eaten) on the way and taking longer than we had planned to whilst looking at the sea and soaking up the sun) and just managed to get in before the staff closed the entrance gate to visitors. The museum closed at 6 o’clock. Next time we will make sure we go early and have lunch (or even dinner) later in the day.
Closer to home, we went to Clermont. We spotted the Citrus Tower with a slightly amusing history and went up inside to look at the views of the surrounding area. The Mexican restaurant at the foot of the tower served very nice food and, as is the American way, far too much for my husband and myself. One meal between us would have sufficed. Following that, we found the small Presidents Hall of Fame museum housing an old President’s car and interesting memorabilia from a bygone age.
A little further afield, on the West coast, is Tarpon Springs. This is a little Greek fishing village. Very quaint. The beaches around this area are lovely – crystal clear water, clean beaches – I just wish I could remember the name of the actual beach we went to. Still, an opportunity to do some exploring of your own!
Ski:
We do love snow skiing but this is one of the activities that cannot be accommodated in Florida. However, water skiing is a available but as we do not water ski we are not really able to help with this activity !
Golf:
Florida boasts many great golf courses, although we don't play, however, that may soon be on the to do list !
If you require information about the golf courses, the staff at the resort can point you in the direction to many of the course's nearby.
