This charming hideaway house, ‘Maravista', overlooking Funchal Bay and the Atlantic ocean, is a private property, located only a few steps (about 5 minutes) away from the centre of Funchal. It is located in a nice garden with a belvedere on the sea cliff, fully furnished, with indoor and outdoor dining and separate sitting area. The property has been completely restored, in keeping with the island’s traditional architecture. The kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances, including dishwasher. The living and dining area are spacious, bright and airy. This 2 floor house has a main bedroom (with double bed), a second bedroom (with 2 single beds) located on the top floor and a third bedroom on the ground floor with a bunk bed. The house provides all linens and towels. Sleeps 6 and has an extra sofa bed. You can find 1 bathroom and 1 shower room, as well as a private garage.

Have just returned from a week in Madeira, our first trip to the Island, which is truly beautiful place, but this house made our holiday. The views are really stunning. The house is so bright and airy and has all facilities that you would need. The recent renovation does not leave you wanting as you enter you are turned away from road towards the sea,with large glass doors on two floors.2 of the 3 bedrooms have an amazing sea views.2 bright bathrooms further enhance the feel of this house with the most unusual and refreshing rock formation in the shower area.A well stocked kitchen and 3 separate terraces again expand this houses appeal. With original artwork throughout and a fantastic view of the port,this house is a true gem.

A holiday to remember

This is by far our best holiday ever, we had stayed in Madeira before in the tourist area, but this time we wanted something more authentic and peaceful. Casa Maravista is a short walk from the historic centre, the restaurants are 3 minutes away as is the sea access. The house is totally private, a large garden with lawn and tropical flowers, a big swimming pool, and in front...sea, sea and more sea. We could not believe the views, as cruise ships would pass in the horizon as they left or arrived in Funchal port, we even had the luck of seeing a fireworks display from our own veranda. The house is fully furnished, its an old house that has been sympathetically restored with spacious rooms full of light and great views from the full length windows. We would certainly recommend this property, we will return in about 6 months to Maravista, and feel we have found the dream holiday home.

Great holiday in Funchal!

We had a spectacular family holiday in this dream villa, located right in the heart of the old town of Funchal, with a large private garden and swimming pool. The atmosphere was really relaxing and peaceful, the garden ends where the sea cliff begins, and at sunset we would have drinks looking at the boats in the harbour – unforgettable. The house is on two floors, a restored colonial villa done in a very sympthetic and comfortable way, each room is large full of natural daylight and with fabulous sea views. We either cooked in the large kitchen that gives onto the terrace where we did many barbecues, or we walked just down the road to Santa Maria where all the best local restaurants are. We have booked our holiday to return in October and really recommend this charming house.
