Villa Marina is a stunning new luxury villa of 275m2 (easily sleeping 10) located in the Petrothalassa area of Porto Heli. Its location provides it with beautiful panoramic sea views of the local bay in addition to the rolling hills (many covered with vineyards). The house’s open plan has been designed to capture the views of the sea and the pool from the moment you walk in. Two large veranda areas (separate dining and seating areas) and wide patio paving all allow maximum use of the large pool (7m/12m). Internally, the high ceilings and interior-designed furnishings provide a spacious, yet cool respite from the Summer sun whilst central heating and a working fireplace make it ideal for earlier in the season. The spacious kitchen and living room evoke the relaxed style of the nearby island of Spetses. Other amenities include individual air conditioning in all the rooms, satellite TV, and the latest Bosch kitchen appliances. The nearest pine-clad beach is a gentle 10 minute walk away.

The nearest town is Porto Heli, which is the main tourist centre of the area and boasts a variety of activities and services (it is an important sailing centre). Other than water sports facilities (including water sport schools), the town has ample grocery shops including supermarkets (don’t miss Drougas the mouthwatering bakery) and numerous restaurants. You can also rent cars, bicycles and yachts. Though it is generally regarded as the “St Tropez” of Greece, in view of the influx of serious yachts and holiday homes of Greece’s rich and famous, it remains a beautiful pine clad bay. For something quieter head to Ermione, a small fishing village also near the Villa with many restaurants and Thursday’s farmers market (a must for stocking up for the week). The village has two sides, with the quieter south side having quaint restaurants perched on sheer rock faces, the perfect place to watch the sun set. Kranidi, the nearby hill town is the administrative centre for the area.

Notes: The spacious kitchen has ample room for food preparation and extensive cupboard space. It includes 4 ring electric ceramic hob, wide oven, fridge freezer and dish washer (all by Bosch). Other kitchen equipment include a microwave, toaster, electric kettle. There is a large seating area with stunning views of the pool and the sea. Double doors take you out to the pool area (so making easy access to the fridge!). The living room is a truly spectacular space with tall ceilings, beautiful art & furniture and amply seating space and a working fireplace. Professionally designed to the relaxed colours of the region, the living room has two wide double doors to the outside pool and patio area. Downstairs there is TV Room/Bedroom 5 (with satellite TV and DVD player), and a games room with table tennis table. There is also a utility room with a washing machine and dryer (washing powder is included). Iron and ironing board also provided.

Places to visit: Apart from the nearby villages of Porto Heli, Kranidi and Ermione, there are numerous places to see within a couple of hours of the Villa. Top of the list should be the beautiful town of Nauplion with its neoclassical centre and Venetian castle. It is blessed with a dramatic setting and has numerous restaurants and shops. A visit to quintessentially Greek island of Spetses is also a must and there are ample water taxis or buses to take you the short hop across the sea from Costa. Poros is also another nearby beautiful island and there is a dramatic and very scenic drive to get there. Hydra is famous for being popular with artists and when you get there you will see why. The scenery is dramatic and the villages seem to cling to the steep mountainside. Some of Greece’s greatest archaeological sites are also nearby including Mycenae (the home of King Agammemnon), Tyrinth and Epidaurus (a vast marble theatre where you can still see classical Greek drama).

Travel: The nearest airport is Athens. It is a 3.5 hour flight from the UK. It is recommended that you hire a car at the airport and drive to the villa (approximate time is 2.5 hours). Alternatively take a taxi to the port of Piraeus (approximately 1 hour) and then take the Flying Dolphin hydrofoil to Ermione or Porto Heli. Travel time is approx 2hrs. We would strongly recommend hiring a car throughout your stay since public transport is minimal.

Additional villa Information: There are paved areas all around the villa and three separate patio areas (one in front of the house, one next to the pool and one next to the downstairs bedroom/TV room. In front of the house is a large private pool (12m x 7m and a poolside shower). The house sits behind remote controlled gates and is on a large 4000sq metre plot with extensive gardens (albeit immature since the house is new) and there is ample car parking space. There is a gardener, who also looks after the pool and the caretaker lives nearby. The villa is cleaned once a week. Children are welcome although please note that the pool is not enclosed and there are no stair guards.

This is the most beautiful villa we ever stayed in. Its very comfortable, spacious and has everything that people need. Not to mention a breathtaking view over the sea and the nice big swimming pool. We had the most relaxing and peaceful week. Our children enjoyed playing table tennis, Wii, and watching movies. I am sure that some day we will return to Villa Marina.

We were looking for a charming and peaceful place and we found it. When we arrived after a 12 hour trip, our daughter was so happy when discovering the illuminated swimming pool and the small palace that she could not stop running and laughing around. Then we decided to visit monuments every other day in order to enjoy Villa Marina for every time of the day. Very relaxing indeed.
