4 Bedroom fabulous split-level modern Spanish-style house, in small upmarket complex with 2 shared pools and beautiful mountain and sea views. Ideal for 'getting away from it all' but still just a short drive from a busy town. Nestled on hillside above Almunecar. 15 min walk to beach. 5 mins to Almunecar for restaurants, tapas bars, shops, Friday market, aquapark, aquarium. New, interior designed with air-con throughout. Unique position perched atop a hill with uninterrupted, breathtaking views over the green mountainside and sea. There are 2 beautiful communal pools, both with gorgeous sea and mountainside views, 1 and 3 mins walk from house. The dramatic panorama makes you feel as though you are floating on the mountainside while you enjoy a barbeque on the deck. All of the rooms have huge windows opening onto stunning mountain/sea views, so the house is bright & airy. There are also 2 balconies, a pretty garden area, plenty of shade available, safe for young children to play.

The Costa Tropical has various excellent golf courses. There is an excellent horse-riding school 10 mins drive from the house, with English-speaking instructors. The 'Pradollano' winter sports resort is 1hr. 20 mins' drive away, so it's possible to ski in the morning and relax on the beach in the afternoon! There is an excellent British Ski School offering lessons at very reasonable rates. 2 communal swimming pools, non-heated, warm enough to use from May onwards. (Infinity pool open from 15 June onwards). Outdoor area comprises a hardwood decked and tiled area with pergola above, for shade. Beautiful mosaic-tiled outdoor table and wrought-iron chairs to seat 8. Garden alongside with colourful flowers, palms, etc. Gas barbecue and charcoal barbecue. Various sun loungers/beach chairs. Outdoor tap, hose, paddling pool.

15 mins' walk/5 mins' drive to nearest beach. Velilla beach is a peaceful, pretty cove surrounded by rocky hills and overlooked by an ancient lookout tower. There are 2 good restaurants on the beach itself. It joins up to the other wide beaches that fringe Almunecar, so from Velilla beach you can walk from one end of Almunecar to the other, nearly all on the beach. There are several children's play areas dotted all along the beaches, and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The house is reached by descending 2 sets of steps, as it is situated on a hillside, so not suitable for those who find steps difficult. The rooms are distributed over 4 split levels, having only 5 or 6 steps between each level. Ground level: kitchen and living/dining room. Level 1: wc and bedroom with bunkbeds. Level 2: master bedroom with en-suite & bedroom with bunkbeds. Level 4: bedroom with double/twin beds and bathroom.

would definately recommend
we did rent a car - as property is up in the hills i feel it would have been difficult to get out and about
water park excellent/lovely restaurants lots of lovely tapas/

The house was lovely, it was well appointed and views from the terrace are stunning. The infinity pool near by was fantastic with views of the mountains and sea. The house is a 15 minute walk to the beach, we did not hire a car but I would recommend this for people with walking difficulties. I would definately recommend the house it is in quiet location yet it is within easy reach of pools, the beach and town. Overall the house was well maintained and had everything you need and more for a great holiday.

Overall, a good experience. The property was clean and tidy and exactly as described on the website. The cost was about right. Stunning views across the hills. Good car parking spaces, no problem parking nearby throughout the week we were there.
Unfortunately, we experienced bad smells from the downstairs loo. We also smelled the same odour at times outside too, as if it were the drains. The washer drain backed up and flooded, but credit to the management company (Sue and Alan), they got workmen in to repair the problem Hopefully that's fixed it, as it had been reported previously.
Although the house was clean, tidy and neat, we felt it lacked a homely touch. That said, it was more than adequate for our use. This is only a personal opinion, and our preference.
Overall, we thought the property was in a great position, the pools were lovely, sunbathing beds were plentiful. A thing to look out for was they weren't open all the time. The top pool gate wasn't open on our last day (a Saturday), and we had to climb over, as did the other people who were using that pool. The infinity pool was open from 12 noon till 8pm, the "squiggly" pool 11 till 8pm.
There were good cooking facilities in the modern kitchen, with a good range of equipment. Just needed an orange squeezer.
In summary, we all enjoyed staying at this property. It was a good base to explore the surrounding area. Go to Motril and turn up the new motorway to Grenada/Alhambra Palace from there - dead easy! Disregard what your satnav tells you! Oh, and if you decide to visit the Alhambra Palace, either order your tickets online prior to going, or purchase them by credit card. You have to wait in the baking sunshine if you wish to pay by cash, and pre-bookers get priority in the queue. Stunning place though.
Would definitely recommend this property.
Owner's Response: The washing machine drain was fixed right away, and is now working properly. An orange juicer...great idea, thanks!
