The apartment, recently renovated, comfortable bright and functional is ideal for families. It is situated in Perledo near shops restaurants and parking areas and it offers a very wide panoramic view on the historic quaint centre of the village (the big San Martino church, typical and characteristic streets, fountains), surrounding mountains full of olive-trees, Vezio with its famous castle and the whole lake Como. Two floors below the apartment there is a lovely snack-bar where you can have breakfast or drink something during the day (beer is excellent!!!). At night, on the balcony in front of the lake, the atmospher becomes fascinating: the lights on the lake glisten and reflect on the water, Vezio with its castle looks like an enchanted village. The owner, living near the apartment, will be happy to provide you material on tourist places to visit, assist you during the stay as well as suggest the best places to take photos of the lake (sunsets taken from Perledo are fantastic!!!)

Perledo is a little picturesque village which dominates the central part of lake Como. Placed in a hilly area behind Varenna (only 3 km far by car) it offers a panorama of rare beauty and vastness overlooking the entire lake and surrounding towns. It is a real oasis in the nature between lake and mountains ideal for outdoor activities or as a starting point for visiting a very wide range of places.Varenna can be reached in only 5 minutes by car, Menaggio and Bellagio in 10 minutes by ferry from Varenna, Lecco in 30 minutes and Mandello (well known home town of ‘Moto Guzzi’) in 20 minutes; you can also easily reach Milano, Bergamo or Como by train in an only hour or decide to visit Valsassina or Valtellina (Bormio, Madesimo, St.Moritz). Looking at google map the apartment seems directly on SS36, the most important highway of the area. Don't worry since this big road is just a tunnel running under the village of Perledo. The apartment is absolutely quiet and ideal for a relaxing holiday.

Casa la Fonte apartment Perledo

We enjoyed our stay at Casa la Fonte. The apartment was accurately described on the website and very cleanly presented. As others have mentioned, the kitchen although small was perfectly adequate and well equipped. The bedrooms were spacious and being out of the direct sun for most of the day, remained quite cool (the weather was very hot during our stay!). We enjoyed the fine view of the lake from the balcony, especially after dusk when the lights from the surrounding towns and villages looked very pretty. The owner was most hospitable and keen to ensure that everything was OK with the apartment and gave a mobile contact in case we should need any help or information on the area. The village shop has a very wide selection of produce with fresh bread daily. Supermarkets are not far away at Bellano or Mandello.

Perledo is very centrally situated with good train, bus and ferry services in Varenna, from which the lake and cities such as Milan and Bergamo are easily reached. A car is a necessity as the road snaking up from Varenna is quite steep. Parking space in Perledo is limited and although the owner provided a local permit, no designated space in the small car park was free during our stay (August is peak holiday period in Italy) and we found to our cost how strict the local police are regarding any parking infringement.

We would recommend Perledo as a good base for exploring the area and for those who enjoy hill walking.
Owner's Response: i think it's true: parking is a real problem but only in the central weeks of august and not only in perledo (also in many surrounding towns and villages).

Great stay

We rented this property for two weeks. The apartment was spotless when we arrived with a wonderfully equipped kitchen – small, but workable. The view is just like the photo on the website. The village is Perledo – above Varenna and it is a stiff drive down – we walked often instead. Probably not suitable for infirm or disabled guests. There are lots of stairs. Highly recommend this for romantic stays and those who love to walk.

Excellent Good Value Accommodation

The apartment was very clean. Kitchen is quite small but has all you need to prepare meals and drinks. Views from the balcony over Lake Como are beautiful due to the elevation of the apartment. The owner of the property was very hospitable and helpful. Good central location for sightseeing arond Lake Como and local region. A car is required but public transport is available (train, bus ) within 1-2 miles. Ferry trips to nearby Mennagio and Bellagio are recommended and the cost for a days pass between these points very reasonable (eur 11.00). Overall a very good base to explore from.

Super Ferienwohnung - Hervorragend zum Entspannen

Die Fereinwohung "Casa la Fonte" entsprach genau den Darstellungen auf der Intenetseite. Es war sehr sehr sauber, und gut ausgestattet - von Küchenuntensilien, über Reiseführen, und CD-Player war alles vorhanden. Der Vermieter ist sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich und hat uns mit allem versorgt was wir brauchten.
Auf dem Balkon hatten wir von Mittags bis zum Abend Sonne und konnten die herrlich Aussicht auf den Comer See genießen.
Für den Preis ist es eine super Unterkunft (auch wenn die Wohnungen eine sehr schrägen Stilmix besitzt- gehäkelte Deckchen, Plasitk Sets mit Bienen, Ikea Couch...aber dennoch sehr gemütlich).
Eine Wohung die wir sehr empfehlen können und vor der aus man schönen Wanderungen machen kann.
Außerdem ist der kleine Dorfladen gegenüber der Kircht super: man bekommt dort alles was man zum kochen und essen braucht.
