Photos and Description of this Epidaurus holiday house 2 Bedrooms, renovated traditional house with garden, secluded bay just 2 km.

A charmingly renovated old stone traditional house. Air-conditioned throughout and furnished to a high standard. On the lower floor both the bedrooms have sea views and French windows onto a patio that extends the length of the house. Upstairs the open plan sitting room and kitchen also enjoys the sea views and opens onto a patio to the side, or a more shaded patio at the back. There is a further terrace under the almond tree to the side of the house which gives you the best of the views. There is off road parking. The house is just a short walk to the village which is one of the most unspoiled in the Peloponnese. Everyone knows and talks to everyone and they welcome strangers as if they have known you all their lives. Half the buildings are now a relic to the days when this was quite a large community based around the olive oil press. Now the old stone grinding wheels stand idle amongst tall grasses and the pace of life has slowed to allow time to unwind completely. Secluded beach 2km

Dryopi is a small unspoiled village just outside Epidavros. The area boast amazing views across the sea and the land rises sharply into mountains behind the village. There are hidden unspoiled secluded bays along the coast for swimming. The historic town of Epidavros is a 15 minute drive away in one direction where you can take the road to the famous Epidavros Amphitheatre, dropping in on the watermill museum, or carry on to the town of Ligourio which has an amazing Natural history museum. Futher still is the ancient capital of Nafplion with its hill top castle and island fort. In the opposite direction you can visit the historic Trizona were Thesseus was born. Here there is a gorge worth walking which is cool all the year round with some deep pools you can bathe in. 20 min will find you to the agricultural town of Galatas where taxi boast will take you to the island of Poros. Here you can also take boats to Hydra and Spetses for a days outing or more. Great location!.

Getting there.: If you fly into Athens you could hire a car from there and drive down to Driopi. It will take about two and a half hours through some dramatic country. Alternatively it is possible to take the train from the airport to Corinth, visit the canal and hire a car from there. Or you could take the bus from the airport to Pireaus, here you can take a hydrofoil boat to Poros. Cars can be hire from Galatas, (across a tiny strip of water from Poros.) and the drive from there is about 20 minutes. The owner is happy to meet you either in Epidavros or the village of Driopi and direct you to your holiday home.

Other Activities: Serious unwinding, leisurely strolling but there are also local historic sites such as Epidavros Amphitheatre to be explored.

Villa in Dryopi, near Epidaurus (August 2009)

We spent a week in this villa in Dryopi (August 2009). It was a perfect place for our family (parents & 2 little boys of 3 and 8). We met the owner near Epidaurus and he accompanied us to the house. He was very helpful.

Dryopi is a small unspoiled village just outside Epidavros. The historic town of Epidavros is a 15 minute drive away in one direction where you can take the road to the famous Epidavros Amphitheatre (other 15 mn drive).

The villa is very quiet, as well as the surroundings. But it's a bit far fom the next city, supermarket, restaurants and beaches (15-20 minutes by car). A car is necessary. The best beaches are in the city of Epidaurus.

The house is modern, very clean and well maintained. The children loved to play around the house on the various terraces. You can enjoy nice views of the sea and mountains sitting on the terraces or on the balcony.

We recommend to explore the region (by car) which is beautiful: Argolid Peninsular, Epidaurus archeological site (Theater), Methana, Galatas, Poros island (5 mn ferry from Galatas to Poros), Ermioni, Tolo (nice beach) and the old city of Nauplie (Nafplio) with its hill top castle and island fort, Corinthe.

We would recommend this villa to everybody (couple and family) who wants to get to know the region of Epidaurus and the Argolid Peninsular.
