Originally a 19th century smugglers inn this superb property has been equipped as a holiday home. The house stands in gardens of 1 1/2 acres at the end of a quiet rural lane. It enjoys unparalleled views over fields and a protected bird reserve, overlooking the solent and the Isle of Wight. There are many coastal walks, local pubs and Lymington, a thriving town popular with sailors is within a mile from the property. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 shower rooms and a cloakroom. The master suite has an ensuite bathroom with separate shower cubicle, second double bedroom has twin beds, third bedroom has double bed with en suite shower room, fourth bedroom has two sets of adult-size bunk beds and fifth bedroom has one set of adult-size bunk beds. There is a large sitting room leading to spacious balcony , staircase leading down to garden , study, dining room, eat-in kitchen, utility room with washing machine and tumble drier. There is Sky TV , Broadband with DVD and video player.

Lymington is a well-known sailing centre at the edge of the famous New Forest which is a National Park. It has many walks, lakes, characterful old English pubs and is a nature reserve. Local activities include many walking areas, horse-riding bird-watching and of course all water sports. The Isle of Wight is a popular tourist attraction only a 15 minute ferry ride away with many beaches. Lymington is a thriving town with a very popular Saturday market and is only a half hour drive from both Southampton and Bournemouth airports and just under a 2 hour drive from from the centre of London. Nearest beaches are approx 5 miles away and there are many places to explore in all sizes of boat, from Cowes in the Isle of Wight to Beaulieu, Keyhaven and on to Mudeford beaches. There are many nice pubs, some good restaurants and golf courses within easy reach.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Rental rates vary according to the time of year.
    Please ask for the rate when emailing your initial enquiry.
    Please note we do not accept any bookings under a 4 day minimum which is available during off season periods.
    During peak periods the minimum booking period is one week.
    A Deposit of £250 required which is returned within 2 weeks of holiday letting assuming no breakage/ damage issues.
    50% of the rental payment to be received in UK bank account at time of booking and the remaining 50% to be received in UK bank account 4 weeks before start date.
    Rental includes cleaning charge on exit .
    If extra cleaning is required this is deducted from deposit.
  • Note:
    We accept a minimum of 4 days letting during off peak season only , i,e, not during easter week, summer months or christmas / new year weeks. The cost is generally between £750 and £800 for a 4 day off season let for the house.
    Please ask for rental rates appropriate to your requested dates when you email your enquiry to us. The weekly rates vary between approx £1100 and £1800 throughout the year per week according to the season.
    Please note : We do not accept any weekend ( i.e. 2 day ) rentals at any time.

Relaxing and Enjoyable - Superb.

What a fantastic break. There were 8 of us in our party plus our dog and we all had a tremedous time none more so than the dog! The house and grounds are excellent and we were blessed with good weather for late October.

The location and views are wonderful particularly from the upstairs balcony where we enjoyed the day time and some late nights watching the lights from the IoW. The house is in the country, close to the coast with some great walks on the doorstep. The local pub around the corner - Chequers - was extremely welcoming with good food.

We spent 4 nights in the Cottage and we wished it could have been many more. The description of the property is accurate but it is much better than the narrative and the pictures portray. It is well maintained and we would have no problem in recommending it to anyone.

One small suggestion - with kids and adults in the party it would have been useful to have had another tv for different viewing / playstation etc - there is just one.

The property is wonderful - we immediately felt at home and it has everything you need with space for everyone to relax. The gardens are absoluetly stunning. The balcony terrace is a lovely spot with great views. We spent a long weekend here and would come back to enjoy it again and see more of the local area - visited the beach one day and the new forest the next. But actually because the property is so lovely it is great to just relax at the house and in the gardens - or play football, cricket, table tennis! We were with a 3yr old, two 2 yr olds and a 1yr old and they also loved it although probably even better for older children.

Fantastic House!! Beautiful views! Great Time!!

I hired this house to celebrate my wife's 30th Birthday and it was a great experience! The photos provided here really don't do the house justice. It is massive!! Yet it is cosy at the same time. The main living room has fantastic views on a clear day and the accompanying balcony is amazing! We had two toddlers in our party and they had a great time in the kids garden! There is also an adult garden which is maintained to an extremely high standard! The chequers pub near by was great for a few drinks in the afternoon sun and finished off a superb stay. Definately recommended for anyone looking to get away!!
