Nice holiday apartment: Nice

This was the first time we have not stayed in a hotel on our many visits to Nice and following this stay we would be happy to take the apartment again. The apartment was ideally located for easy access to all of Nice and close to both rail and bus links for visits to Monaco, Monte Carlo Antibes etc. The apartment owner could not have been more helpful and the facilities did match the details on the website.
A visit to the old town is essential, not only for the flower market but also for the diversity of little shops, cafes, restaurants and of course a few paces out of the flower market takes you onto the Promenade des Anglais to join people just enjoying a stroll and maybe a glass of wine on any of the cafes situated on the beach or to maybe join the small street train for a full tour of Nice - highly recommended not only to see Nice, but also for the sheer fun of it.
When it comes to dining, Nice offers many different types of establishments - we have tried over the years to sample as many as possible - but three should not be missed in the old town. Le Bouchon is a small restaurant offering superb food in a friendly atmosphere, whether having fish or meat, the food is cooked to perfection and the staff add to the pleasure of dining there. Le Safari is a lot more casual but must not be missed, the place is so popular and booking a table is recommended.
Due to its' popularity Le Safari is always full and buzzing with atmosphere. The tempura florets followed by baked rabbit 'superb' and you have to try the tarte tatin. A perfect spot for lunch if you wish to eat outside and enjoy good food while watching life in the flower market
Just across the flower market Chez Freddie has a good menu if you fancy fish.
On this visit we were joined by a friend from Austria who was visiting NIce for the first time and the apartment gave us the opportunity to spend more time together as a group.
We have stayed at the Aston Hotel many times only a few yards away from the apartment, they have a super restaurant and the bar on the top floor is unique in the fact that it is possible to sit outside in the evening overlooking the rooftops of Nice and watching the activity at the airport in the distance — recommended for an evening drink.
The new tram system is first class and allows ease of access to the railway station for visits to Monaco and once again a trip on the small road train is recommended as an ideal way to discover the whole of Monaco.
