Alghero is one of those places that the Italians have been happy to keep to themselves. Tucked away on the north-western coast of the island of Sardinia, this fishing port remains unspoilt and mostly devoid of the package holiday crowds. One look at the medieval old town with its mighty stone wall and seven surrounding watchtowers, and you’ll likely be keeping quiet about where you went on your holidays too. There are a lot of beautiful beaches (Bombarbe, Lazzaretto, Speranza...). The Airport of Fertilia connects Alghero with several towns in Europe: Girona, Bremen, Dublin, Dusseldorf. Weeze, East-Midland, Frankufurt-Hahn, Liverpool, London Standsted, Milan-Bergamo, Pisa-Florence, Stcokhol S. Stavska (low cost flights of Ryanair).
Alghero is also connected to a lot of towns in Italy: Rome, Milan, Bologna, Pisa, Torino, Venice...
The harbour of Porto Torres (40 minutes by car) connects to France, Spain and several towns in Italy
The railway is only 10 minutes from the centre.
