Inside:
Villa Mavrud is fully alarmed, giving you peace of mind. It is well insulated, making it cool in the summer and easy to heat in the winter. Radiators are located on the first two floors. Electric heaters are provided for the loft bedroom. An electric boiler provides hot water.
During the winter months, the wood burning stove in the kitchen is great to come home to after a hard day's skiing or hiking. It also fires the central heating. This is normal for rural Bulgaria and you will be given instruction on how to operate it, so don't worry!
The house is located a short distance along a grass lane. The lane is maintained, so is passable at all times. Both doors to the property are only navigable via steps. There is restricted headroom when entering the loft room.
Lakeside beaches and water sports are available at Lake Iskar, about 50 minutes by car. Water skiing, jet skiing and fishing are possible. Or you can relax and enjoy a drink and a meal at one the lakeside restaurants.
Outbuildings and Garden:
The house boasts a large garden with a variety of fruit trees and several restored rustic timber-framed and daubed outbuildings. The latter enclose an eminently suitable area for eating al fresco, serviced by a ‘summer kitchen,’ a covered clay oven which has been adapted for barbeque use.
Available soon, the ground floor of the main barn houses 'The Tardis'. It may look like a rustic barn on the outside but inside, it is very different! Let it transport you to another world as you relax and unwind in a sauna and hot-tub after a long day's skiing or hiking. A small fee is charged for the use of the sauna facilities but this is purely to cover running costs. The barn also houses a secure ski locker for guests using their own skis.
The garden is continually improving and features a large rockery, grass areas and gravelled, off-road parking suitable for several cars. Garden furniture is available for the summer months and covered, bench-style seating is provided in the outbuildings.
