Once a small fishing village Kalkan is now a pretty town catering for the discerning traveller. In the old town with its narrow winding streets leading to the picturesque harbour, you will find shops selling rugs, antiques, jewellery and clothes, small bars and excellent restaurants, many are roof top with stunning views.
Kalkan has a small pebble beach awarded blue flag status, plus there are several beach clubs around the bay with water activities. Diving clubs can be found at the harbour. Kaputas Cove and beach is a 15 minute drive away, or catch a boat from Kalkan harbour and swim ashore. Patara beach with 18km of unspoilt sand, is 20 min away by car. Kalkan is at the heart of the Lycian region and many ancient sites are nearby, Xanthos Latoon, Patara, Tlos and Myra are all within easy reach as is Saklikent Gorge walk through the cooling waters then sample the fresh fish at nearby restaurants. Boat trips run from the harbour to many of the islands and to Kekova and the sunken city
