Photos and Description of this St Laurent la Vallee holiday barn Set in the heart of the Dordogne with views across to the Dordogne Valley.

This property has been lovingly restored, with accommodation to sleep up to eight people. It consists of two double bedrooms, a family room, two shower rooms (one of which is en-suite) and a bathroom. Downstairs is open-plan with fully-equipped lounge, kitchen and dining areas. The surrounding courtyard and land provide a choice of areas for dining outside, for which a barbecue is provided. There is also a good size above-ground pool for a refreshing plunge. This peaceful, remote setting in the heart of the Périgord Noir, is positioned on the outskirts of a charming village, St Laurent La Vallée, which possesses a delightful Bar/Restaurant and a very useful general store. The surrounding countryside brings many opportunities for outdoor activities, such as walking, cycling, hot-air ballooning, fishing, golf, horseback riding, canoeing and swimming. The property is well positioned for visiting the many local historical attractions ... not forgetting the vineyards of Bergerac.

We are 20 minutes drive from the Dordogne river and the part of the valley which is home to the 5 magnificent châteaux of Castelnaud, Marqueyssac, Beynac, Feyrac and Les Milandes. Canoes can be hired from here and all along the river. A host of medieval 'Bastide' towns are within 30 minutes drive, of which Sarlat, Domme, Monpazier and Belvés are notable examples. We also have a wealth of prehistoric caves within 60 minutes drive, including Lascaux II, Les Eyzies, Le Buisson, Domme. There are many beaches along the river for swimming and several public pools. The riverside villages of La Roque Gageac, Beynac, Les Eyzies and Limeuils are captivatingly beautiful and high quality restaurants are to be found in just about every town and village. Within an hours drive, you will also find many vineyards producing high quality wines at prices which will make you wish you had brought a trailer! The village has a very good general store and supermarkets are just 15 to 20 minutes away.

    For May/June & September periods £500 per week
    For July/August period £600 per week
  • A deposit of £150.00 per week will be required on booking. The balance, plus a further security deposit of £150.00 is then payable 6 weeks prior to the date of arrival. Payment may be made by cheque or bank transfer. The security deposit of will be refunded within one week following the end of your holiday, again either by cheque or bank transfer, subject to there being no significant breakage, damage or losses during your stay.

Estuvimos en esta agradable casa una semana y la verdad es que es totalmente recomendable si quieres encontrarte en una casa acogedora, con todas las comodidades y con la opcion de visitar los alrededores, en coche, donde hay mucho que ver o disfrutar de la maravillosa vista del valle pasando un tranquilo dia haciendo una barbacoa y disfrutando simplemente del entorno de la casa y de la tranquilidad del lugar. Los niños también disfrutaron mucho. Susie y Matthew, una encantadora pareja que de una manera muy discreta están dispuestos a ayudarte en lo que haga falta. Hasta la proxima.

We spent a week in the barn at the end of July. We had a wonderful time, the barn is very clean, well equipped and spacious ( for our family of 2 adults and 4 children. It is close to villages, ( need a car) , for those essentials. The general area is very beautiful with outstanding views. We made good use of the swimming pool for cooling down. We had a problem with the car while at the barn and Matthew and Susie helped us resolve the problem with the minimum of inconvenience. We even managed to leave our passports behind and thanks to them we were soon reunited with them. Nothing was too much trouble, great hosts.
