Antigua holiday villa: Bolans, Saint Mary's

My partner and I recently stayed at Contemporary Villas for one week and we had a fabulous time. The owner Milton was very hospitably and the level of service he provided was impeccable. Every aspect of our holiday was catered to and therefore our stay felt like “home away from home”. The standard of accommodation surpassed many of the hotels and other villas on the island.

The pictures posted on Holiday Rentals was a true depiction of the villa, clean, contemporary, modern and it had the added benefits of a walk on deck that overlooked the harbour and a plunge pool which was a welcomed delight.

Antigua is a beautiful country and staying at Contemporary Villas made our stay even more enjoyable and most importantly comfortable. We highly recommend that if you decide to visit Antigua that Contemporary Villas is your only option.

We appreciated the hospitality shown throughout our stay and we were blown away by the villa and Milton’s structured and organised approach towards our stay because every detail was well planned from the “complimentary survival pack” to the villa’s operating manual, which made our stay effortless and carefree. Our host’s generous nature coupled with his willingness to help wherever possible made our stay an absolute pleasure. We are already planning another trip for 2010…

We stayed at this property twice in April 2009. The property is as modern and beautifully presented as the description suggests. The owner, Milton, is just great – really helpful and living locally means he was on hand if we had any problems. Everything was spotlessly clean and the welcome pack was the best we have ever had and easily kept us going for the first evening and breakfast.

We loved the cool, clean interior. The beds are better than at home! The media centre includes a plasma TV and an iPod docking station – all very impressive! The kitchen is very well equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art appliances. The showers were lovely and endless hot water on tap.

With balconies to front and rear you have the sun morning and afternoon and we loved watching the sun go down over the ocean and through the palm trees each evening. The sitting out area is attractive but very hot – not really suitable for meals outside. We were glad of the plunge pool which kept us cool and our daughter loved practising hand-stands in the water. The tiles around could become quite slippery so – as with any villa of this kind - small children would need careful supervision. But our 11 year old just loved it.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the beach which is just seconds away and is long, wide and beautiful – with white sand and lots of shells. It is busy in places but a short walk quickly gets you away from the crowds. The communal swimming pool on site was also very pleasant and never got too busy while we were there. Everything you could need is available at the shops and supermarket 5 minutes easy walk away, so a car is not really necessary. The security on site is not intrusive but their presence is reassuring.

We stayed 5 days before going on to Anguilla and were sorry to leave even though we were excited about our next place. When we returned to Antigua we were booked into another property near Dickenson Bay and were very unhappy with both the property and the very busy beach at this end of the island. We phoned Milton and arranged to move back into his villa – second time around it seemed better than ever! Thanks a million Milton for our wonderful stay and best wishes to you and your family.
