Soller area holiday villa: Soller

I was the lucky winner of the Holiday Rentals 'Dream Prize Holiday' Competition late in 2008 and had free rein to choose a property in which to holiday with my family.

After a huge amount of searching, we decided upon Ca'n Busquera in Soller. We had been to Mallorca before, but not to the north of the island so thought it would be a great opportunity to explore a new area.

The villa was absolutely stunning throughout. Tisha (owner) has great taste and had furnished the house beautifully. I felt like I was living inside an interiors magazine! The villa is extremely well thought out, with everything (and more) that you could possibly need during your stay. The rooms were huge, beds really comfortable and the bathrooms immaculate. The kitchen was very well equipped and we made good use of the mechanical juicer for our freshly picked oranges from the orchard! The villa had a very well stocked library and there was plenty of seating for larger parties - both for dining and relaxing.

The outside area was equally spacious and standing in the garden looking up to the mountains was amazing, the changing weather meant there was alway something new to see. We made great use of the pool, sun loungers and parasols. The orchard stocked lemons and oranges and grapefruit, so we were able to drink the freshest possible juice - the children loved this!

Soller itself was very pretty but the roads very very narrow - so choose the smallest possible car you can get away with! The main square is literally 3 minutes walk away, with a reasonable supermarket closer than that. The tram ride down to the Port of Soller is a must. It runs right through the main square in Soller and you can literally touch eaters and drinkers as you pass by - very weird indeed! The railway journey from Soller to Palma is also very worthwhile, the scenery stunning. We found a great cafe/restaurant in the main square in Soller called La Granja which was very reasonably priced and served great food.

Overall we had the most fantastic holiday. It truly was my idea of a 'dream holiday' - something I will remember forever. A huge thank you to Holiday Rentals for the prize and also to Tisha for going out of her way to make everything perfect for us.
