Casa Critonia is a delightful family villa situated in its own 7.5 acres with spectacular views of Monchique and the surrounding countryside. The large terrace and heated pool adjoin the villa and are surrounded by mature gardens and lawn. Lagos and Praia da Luz with their sandy beaches are five minutes drive away. Ideal for two family holidays.

  • Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Changeover is flexible and rents of less than a week are acceptable and charged pro rata. Minimum rental 4 days. Winter rates and long lets by arrangement. Pool heater £125 per week. Cots £15 per week.
  • 25% deposit on booking, the balance and a £200 returnable damage/telephone deposit to be paid 4 weeks before arrival.
    Pool heating £100 PW. Cots available £15 PW.

Notes: Kitchen with 4 hob gas cooker with grill and oven, microwave, large toaster, kettle, coffee percolator and walk-in larder. Utility room with washing machine, dishwasher, large fridge freezer. Spacious L-shaped living/dining room opens directly onto the poolside terrace, large dining table seats 10, TV, log burner, and plenty of big comfortable sofas and chairs. Poolside covered sun shelter for outside dining. All house linen changed weekly. Towels provided (please bring own beach towels) and changed twice weekly. Twice weekly maid service. The villa is very suitable for children - the pool is accessed through the living room or kitchen door or by one gate to the front. The lawn is ideal for babies to play on. All bedrooms and bathrooms have electric heater panels.

Loungers and mattresses for 10. Private 30x15 ft swimming pool with Roman end and child friendly steps. Facility to heat to 80° F for 10 months a year. Latest Australian salt based low chlorine pool filter. Garage and carport. BBQ. Private drive and parking. Praia da Luz - large sandy beach with wind surfers etc at one end is 6 mins drive. Perfect for small children. Lagos with several beaches about 10 mins drive. Burgau a smaller sandy beach is 10 mins drive. The West coast with Atlantic rollers and great surfing is 25 five minutes drive. Lagos has several large supermarkets, banks, restaurants, pedestrian squares, cobbled streets, and a buzzing night life. Luz is quieter with several small shops, doctor's surgery and a large number of good restaurants, cafes and bars. Faro airport is just under an hour's drive. Lisbon airport can be reached in about 2 hours.

Golf: Boa Vista 18 holes 6 mins drive. Palmeiras 18 holes 15 mins drive. Parque de Floresta 18 holes 15 mins drive. Penina 18 holes 20 mins drive.

I have stayed at this villa twice for golfing holidays and found the location delightful...quiet but not isolated and within easy reach of Palmares and Boavista. The pool is great and the rooms are well appointed with plenty of space and more than ample cupboard storage. The views inland are fantastic and it was great sitting outside with a drink in hand watching the sun sink (unlike my putts) slowly in the west. I would definitely recommend this villa to friends for golfing and family holidays.
