Ski Season:
Flachau is the very heart of Ski amade - Austria's largest skiing group - boasting 5 top regions and 25 skiing destinations. One ticket is all you need to experience - Ski amade live - with a total of 860 kilometres of slopes and 270 lifts. The Snow Space Bus will bring you directly from the local stop to any one of the lower stations. The City Ski-bus leaves every 15 min. Daily from 8.15 - 18.00. Bus fare is free for all skiers!. The resort is famous for the great range of highly diverse, beautifully groomed pistes that surround the town. The skiing is perfect for intermediate skiers, although beginners are magnificently catered for too. There are in fact 860km of slopes across three valleys, so you should have no problems in finding a suitable challenge. Flachau has bred two world champions, including the legendary downhill skier, Hermann Maier, and there is even a permanently timed run for those wishing to add a little competition to their skiing holiday.
Winter and Summer Season:
Away from the slopes there are a huge range of winter activities to enjoy from a self catering Flachau holiday rental. Many of the summer hiking trails that have made Flachau a year round resort are open for winter hiking expeditions and snow shoe hiking, and you can find excellent facilities for snow tubing, tobogganing or ice skating.
The Flachau area is a magnificent destination for walking holidays during the summer months, taking you through thick pine forests, along stunning Alpine ridges and to incredibly picturesque alpine lakes. There is an extensive network of walking and mountains biking trails crossing the landscape, giving you almost endless possibilities for walking, from short, post-lunch strolls to the kind of hikes which may well require a high degree of mountaineering knowledge and ability.
