La Palmyre (90 mins by car) Situated between Royan and La Rochelle, Zoo de la Palmyre has over 1600 'residents' including Polar Bears, Gorillas, Siberian Tigers, Rhinoceroses and Elephants and is a great day out. La Palmyre also boasts one of the largest and less crowded beaches in the area. Chatelaillon Plage (60 mins by car) Just south of La Rochelle the golden sand.
Where is Bresdon? Bresdon is located in the Charente Maritime region of south-west France. The nearest major town, Cognac, is 30 min to the south, La Rochelle is an hour’s drive west and Bordeaux is an hour and a half south. The area is served well by low-cost airlines with Angouleme airport half an hour away. A further 4 airports are within 1.5 hours of the house: Poitiers, La Rochelle, Limoges and Bordeaux (BMI Baby/Fly-BE). The nearest port is Saint Malo (from Portsmouth on Brittany Ferries).
