AUSTRIAN SKI TEAM TRAINING:
In November, Sun Peaks is proud to host the Austrian Ski Teams (Mens and Women') annually. This year, we also played host to the Swiss Ski Teams.
All season long, a variety of amateur teams from BC and the US also enjoy the conditions here.
At the top of Burfield Chair on Tod Mountain, you will see snow frosted trees. You will feel like you have stepped into a picture postcard.
On Mount Morrisey, you will have loads of fun skiing or boarding in and out of glades of trees. The ride on the lifts is always filled with great views of the valley and the other runs on the other two mountains - Sundance and Tod. Look down and see specially decorated trees. Families from all over the world claim a tree and decorate it for the holidays - some for Christmas others for Valentines Day. There is a tree waiting just for you.
There is plenty of things to do:
Off the slopes, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy.
1.Take an adventure snowmobile tour. Make fresh tracks on crystal like now. Every stop is picture opportunity - enjoy the beauty of the wild outdoors. Turn off the engine and hear the sounds of nature.
2. There are many miles of cross country trails at the base of the mountains or take the lifts up Mt. Morrisey and experience the high country trails.
3. Another great workout is snowshoeing and snowshoe running. Step crisply on to crystal powder snow. Snowshoes tours also available with naturalist guides.
4. Enjoy the open skies while you glide on the outdoor skating rink.
5. A tradition in Sun Peaks is the Thursday night fondue and torchlight ski. Enjoy a wonderful meal and then ski down the mountain guided by personal handheld neon lights.
You do not have to pack a lot of equipment. Everything is available for rent at the Outdoor Centre in Village Day Lodge.
Ski:
Sun Peaks is well known for its 'Champagne Snow'. Our home is ski in and out. From the back of the building, ski down to Mt. Morrisey lifts where the lines are light. Check out the fall lines of the other mountains - Tod and Sundance. Ski the whole day without ever going down the same run. At the end of the day, ski right to our front steps. If you wind up at the wrong end of the Village, hop on the free village shuttle.
Golf:
Our home is located on the 16th fairway designed by award-winning Graham Cooke. Each hole holds it own challenge - ravines, big water features, wild grass and forests. Bring extra balls. Something about the mountain air that makes your ball travel farther. Direction of the ball, on the other hand, is totally up to you.
Other Activities:
snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing
