Golf:
Set in the beauty of the Perthshire hills the flat is adjacent to 3 Championship Golf Courses; the King's; the Queen's and the PGA Centenary - the venue of the 2014 Ryder cup. Inspiration for the King's and Queen's courses came from 5 times Open Championship winner James Braid and more recent golf legend Jack Nicklaus designed the PGA Centenary course.
Although not by the sea, Gleneagles resembles the older style links courses in Scotland. The king's course opened in 1919 and is designed to test the best players shot making skills. The beauty of the Queen's has, over the years, attracted golfers such as Greg Norman, Seve Ballesteros and Lee Trevino and entertainment stars such as Burt Lancaster, Bing Crosby and Sean Connery.
The PGA is the longest inland course in Scotland measuring 7,088 from the back tees down in 5 stages to 5,072 from the red tees. The facilities at Gleneagles Golf Academy are excellent from shoe hire to complimentary socks. Caddies can be hired.
Within an hour's drive are other superb courses at St Andrews, Carnoustie, Kingsbarn, Ladybank, Lundin and Leven.
