About the area:
Costa Blanca is situated in southern Spain in the region of Valencia, where it has all year round mild temperatures. Reaching from Benidorm down to San Pedro. It boasts magnificent old towns of Orihuela and Murcia surrounded by orange and lemon groves and lovely views of the surrounding mountains.
There are many beautiful white sandy beaches most with blue flag status, varying from long stretches to small coves. There are two big natural salt-water lagoons, which together with the local temperatures create a healthy micro-climate. It is claimed to be the second healthiest place in the world to live in after California.
Salt is still taken from various lakes and is exported to many countries around the world. The salt lakes are a favorite place for flamingos to flock which you can see all year round.
The Spanish are very proud of their Festivals which occur throughout the year in various towns and villages.
Terra Mitica:
The Terra Mitica theme park is only an hours drive away and there are boat trips to the local Island of Tarbarca from Torrevieja marina
Local markets:
You will find a market every day in one of the local villages. The nearest is Playa Flamenca on a Saturday morning and offers a wide selection of gifts, household products, haberdashery, fresh fruit and vegetables plus lots more.
Ski:
If you don't already know how to water ski you can take lessons, also jet ski and motor boat lessons are available locally.
Golf:
There are three golf courses within a 10/15 minute drive, Villa Martin, Campoamor and Las Ramblas. You don't have to be a member to play.
