Large restored (2006) Tuscan farmhouse on a tiny hilltop in a hidden rural corner of north-western Tuscany with three comfy double rooms all with ensuite bathrooms. The ground floor double room has small kitchenette overlooking tiniest terrace. Great views of hills and vineyards and oak woods from upstairs rooms, one of which sleeps three and largest one four. Breakfasts and dinners on request are served in outside loggia or under the vine pergola by the pool area. A real getaway retreat for a romantic holiday at any season. Only five Kms from the nearest little town of Vicchio, birthplace of Giotto and Fra Angelico and an hour's train ride from the centre of Florence. Great location to discover out of the way villages and within easy driving distance from Siena, Lucca, Pisa and Arezzo. Owners Heidi and Lorenzo will help you unwind, offer you Tuscan goodies, organize a relaxing massage, trekking excursions, organize wine tastings and teach you how to cook favourite Tuscan dishes.

Immersed in the gentle green hills of the Mugello valley, the Le Due Volpi B&B is situated within easy reach of Vicchio (5 km), birthplace of Giotto and Beato Angelico, train station for the art city of Florence, 15 km from renowned Mugello Ferrari race track, 45 km from the Casentino natural park, and on the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) trail to several Appennine peaks. The Barberino Outlet Shopping Centre is 25 km away as is Lake Bilancino, on whose shores you can swim and windsurf to your heart's content. The famous Poggio ai Medici Golf Course is at an easy 20 min ride away, as are horseback riding facilities, and a gliding club. Local excursions to nearby villages like Scarperia, Palazzuolo sul Senio, Marradi, and Borgo San Lorenzo will enrich your visit to this hidden part of Tuscany.   • Breakfast is always included in above rates, which refer to double occupancy per room. For extra beds in the two larger rooms, please apply to owners. Children under 5 years of age are free, for older children please ask owners. Evening aperitifs are always served during the high season. Dinner on request varies from 20 to 30 euros per person.
    Always ask owners for special weekend packages during low season, which include a couple of meals.
    An advance deposit of 30% of the total is requested once the reservation is confirmed.

  • Bathrooms have comfortable showers, tiled by the local manufacturer Chini from Borgo San Lorenzo. All are new, and were restored in 2006 along with the rest of the house.

  • All bedrooms are large (average 25 sq mts, Minerva 30 sq mts) have two windows, one facing east and one facing west. The ground floor room, Brionvega, has a second access directly from an outside staircase, leading to a tiny terrace. The Brionvega room has a Tuscan terracotta floor and a basic but fully equippend kitchenette area. The first and second floor rooms, Minerva and Superla, have air conditioning facilities, oak board floors, and a common kitchenette area outside the Minerva room with a sink, hotplates and a fridge. Hot water is plentiful in all seasons and is supplied by solar panels. Central heating is supplied by a large wood-fired furnace installed when the house was restored in 2006.

This place is absolutely magical! It's a gorgeous old house with beamed ceilings and tile floors, but it's also got beautiful, clean, modern bathrooms and it's spotless. It's surrounded by gardens with lots of fruit trees and flowers, and beyond that, farm fields and views of rolling hills. The hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful. They provide a beautiful breakfast, and I would certainly recommend booking one of their dinners as well; Heidi is a wonderful cook! It's a perfect place to rest and recover from a hectic life; just sitting in the garden reading a book was delightful! Highly recommended!
